simple photo archive software09 Jan 2006 13:40 GMT6
I wonder...if there's any simple software which would allow me to have a
list and thumbnails of all my photos (stored on CD's) available and make
searching easy and fast. I just want to be organized by groups, showing only
thumbs and locations of each image. Quite similar like ...
Canon A620: no good for video09 Jan 2006 12:46 GMT1
Today I returned a Canon A620 to Bestbuy because
I bought it for photography *and* shooting video.
It offers 30 fps video. HOWEVER there is a problem
with this model, it seems, which you will never notice

RAW vs JPEG: 240dpi vs 300dpi, Why?09 Jan 2006 08:50 GMT1
Problems posting this AM apologies if it shows twice.  When I dowload
Raw images from a Nikon D50 to PS CS2 they come in as 3008 x 2000 @
240dpi.  JPEGS come in at 3008 x 2000 @ 300dpi.  I download via Mac's
Image Capture (3.0.3, OSX 10.4)  The images view identically sizewise

Not many "wide-angle" compacts but, heck, many are wide-angle anyway!09 Jan 2006 08:30 GMT10
Hardly any compacts are officially equivalent to a 28mm film camera
lens.
But when I went to the store today and looked at the field of view of
several compacts they sure seemed wide to me! In fact when I compared
Darn Rechargable batteries!09 Jan 2006 07:42 GMT20
I've got a Kodak CX6200, an entry-level camera, great for everyday use.
The only problem with it is, unless used with regular Alkaline
batteries, it can take about 3 pictures before the batteries "die".
The batteries aren't actually fully discharged, I can try them in other

P&S with flash shoe?09 Jan 2006 05:07 GMT10
What compact point-and-shoot digicams accept external flash?  I'm
aware of the Canon G6 but am imagining something smaller.  Even the S1
doesn't seem to have a shoe.  Could some shoe-less cameras have some
other sort of remote flash connector?  Yes I know about optical slaves
options for high-quality scans from B&W negs?09 Jan 2006 04:30 GMT4
I'm an amateur photographer and was recently approached by a good
friend who is starting a business about using some of my photos on
his web site.  The images in question were photographed over the
last few years on a mix of 4x5, 120 (6x6), and 35mm B&W film (mostly
About EXIF and IPTC tags09 Jan 2006 03:53 GMT7
A free program called "The Rename" will rename your
files with EXIF or IPTC information in batch mode.
Exifer is cool but I don't know that it does this, this well.
It will do date, size, camera model and just about everything

New Minolta 7D09 Jan 2006 03:16 GMT7
Color me happy!!!  Picked up my new camera today at Ritz Camera in
Waterford CT.  My wife had bought me the 5D for Christmas but I wanted
the 7D as I can deal better with buttons over menu selections.
Anyway, in reference to return problems that some have had there was
