No mechanical shutter and TIFF24 Jan 2006 19:37 GMT33
I am looking for a digital camera with about 3MP resolution. I would like to
generate 640X480 pictures in TIFF format. There is an additional requirement
that this camera have no mechanical shutter or mirror. I thought that the
Olympus D-575 was going to do the job but it ...
Flash and Canon Rebel XT24 Jan 2006 19:30 GMT13
During the holiday season I've had cause to take many photos indoors
using my Canon Speedlite 420EX flash. If the room isn't vey
illuminated, I consistently take darker photos. I tried turning up the
"AEB" and/or the "Flash ex comp" without appreciable results. A pocket
20D custom profile from an IT8.7/2-1993 target?24 Jan 2006 15:15 GMT6
Is it possible to build a good 20D profile for use in Adobe Camera
RAW, from a IT8.7/2-1993 target?  I have one of these targets that
came with my Agfa scanner several years ago.  Is it feasible to
create a custom profile for the camera or is that just too technical?

Canon or Sigma lenses?24 Jan 2006 09:51 GMT18
Still on the topic of deciding which DSLR to get. Lenses are abvously
playing a part in deciding.
I'm looking at a 28-70 zoom but know nothing of Canon or Sigma, having only
had Minolta before.
18TH CENTURY FOLK LOVE THE 20D24 Jan 2006 09:42 GMT12
I thought I might try to fill in the gap while Bret's 20D is out of service.
Sorry they're not pics of Sandhill Cranes but I hope they will suffice.
Good luck in getting your 20D fixed Bret.

Miniature camera definition24 Jan 2006 09:37 GMT9
Hello, All!
A recent thread indicated to me that the old film definition of
"miniature camera" as 35mm or less is in need of rethinking as
manufacturers stop making film cameras. I wonder what "miniature

Coolpix 4500 - starting to degrade in quality after heavy use24 Jan 2006 08:32 GMT12
Is it possible that a NIKON Coolpix 4500 can face a decreasing
precision of the pictures over time in function of the level of use?
After 3 years of use pictures have started to become a little bit
blurry and we were wondering if some of the mechanical parts are
Photo Galleries On-line?24 Jan 2006 06:41 GMT5
I'm lost. I'm not green when it comes to computer use but I sure am when it
involves photos. I'm trying to find a source - a gallery, I guess - where I
can download a color photo of a woman riding a camel in a desert with a
backdrop of the setting sun. I've Googled the task but ...
Canon 20D underexposing24 Jan 2006 04:53 GMT14
My son has recently acquired a canon 20D from an American supplier (mailed
to England). The camera consistently over-exposes by around 4 stops when
used in shutter priority or aperture priority. If he takes a shot in full
auto and then repeats that aperture in aperture priority, ...
Photos at hospital tomorrow24 Jan 2006 03:50 GMT14
Well, the whiff and I are having our second child tomorrow.  I was
looking for some down and dirty heuristics for taking photos in the
sterile conditions of the maternity ward.  I am using a D70s with a
24-120 VR lens.  I only have the built in flash and 1gb CFC.  Thanks!
What telescope as lens substitute24 Jan 2006 03:43 GMT47
I am looking forward to shoot flamingoes that flock to the Bay of
Bombay in winter from all over Europe. The 300mm lens I have falls way
short of getting a frame filled with a single flamingo so I was looking
at using a telescope for getting *closer* since I can't immiediately
Need advice about 100 to 240 volt external charger24 Jan 2006 03:19 GMT11
I have got a Sony External battery charger BC-TR1 for charging lithium
batteries for the Sony P-200 camera. At the back of the battery
charger, it says AC IN Hundred-240V 50/60Hz 6W. DC OUT 4.2V 0.7A.
Does this mean I can use this charger in England, Paris, and Rome
Torontonian to buy from B&H24 Jan 2006 02:49 GMT91
It is really unfortunate that there is a lot more selection (and with
some discount after factoring in the strong Can$)   for us to order on
line from B&H which I trust.
Any hassle or unexpected cost besides gst and shipping?
