I have a Nikon E5700 digital camera and all I can get is a "LENS ERROR"

Just installed Nikon Picture Project version 1.6.1 on Windows 98 SE.
It worked the first time I opened it but the next time I tried I got an

First time this has happened. I was taking photos of  a lake scene.
Very cold...(-20c) especially with the wind. I took about 20 photos
within a 20 minute time frame, and the camera froze. I don't think the
battery was frozen, but something in the camera did at this temp! This

Anyone know of a Nikon lens rental in the Providence/Boston Area?  I'd
like to compare a 10.5 f2.8 fisheye with the PS CS2 correction filter
and a 14 F2.8.  This is for tight boat interior shots with a digital
