life expectancy of xd cards?06 Dec 2005 09:15 GMT3
When reading the instructions of a new purchased 1 gig Olympus XD card,
I was chagrined to read that the life of memory cards is limited.
Does anyone have an estimate of the life of a card?  Are the factors
the calendar age of the card, or the # of pictures taken with a card,

Anyone know where I could purchase a case for my nice new Olympus 8080
camera?
Thanks.
NiMH vs Lithium-Ion batteries06 Dec 2005 07:00 GMT191
Could you experts please enlighten me on the differences between NiMH and
Lithium-Ion batteries?  For example, why does the Canon PowerShot A-series use
NiMH batteries, but the Canon PowerShot SD-series use Lithium-Ion batteries?
Will lithium-ion batteries eventually replace NiMH ...

What happens when an extending lens is blocked?06 Dec 2005 04:19 GMT19
I recently purchased a small digital camera (my first one, an HP r607), and
I am wondering if it is common in digital cameras to have a clutch in the
lens mechanism.  In other words, if there was an obstruction which prevented
the lens from fully extending upon powerup, would there ...
Audio CDs and CD players06 Dec 2005 02:07 GMT8
The audio CDs I have copied (using Nero and Adaptec's Disk copy) play
ok in my  PC CD rom/Dvd drive, in my DVD player ,  and also in my car
stereo but NOT in my home CD stereo system (Denon) .
As far as I can determine my home stereo sytem is working OK (still
Getting a photo print to match a scan06 Dec 2005 01:42 GMT3
I have an Epson 830U photo printer. I scanned a photo in from my Epson 1240U
flatbed and printed it (from paintshop pro 6) but the printed picture had
too much red hue and probably too much colour saturation (the original on
screen looked fine). Is there a way I can ensure the ...
Unreadable card06 Dec 2005 00:45 GMT4
Hey, everyone. Battery died during writing (stupid, I know - wasn't
paying attention). I was already expecting to lose the data, but now
the card is unreadable by the camera or Windows XP using a card reader.
Windows sees it, but won't access or format it. Tried FDisk, Card Wiper

I would go.

5D Impressions??05 Dec 2005 23:43 GMT3
Folks,
To those who have purchased a 5D and have now used it for some time,
can you comment on your impressions both positive and negative (no pun
intended)?
Upgrade from Canon 18-55 EFS05 Dec 2005 23:19 GMT7
I'm looking for an upgrade from this lens. I'm looking for a bit more speed
and sharpness on the long end. While not bad, the 18-55 shows some chromatic
aberration (purple fringing) at some settings. The curved ocean horizon
shots didn't look that great either thanks to lens ...
SB600 as a slave?05 Dec 2005 23:02 GMT2
Is it possible to use an SB600 just as a simple slave flash, triggered
by any other flash, as opposed to the whole TTL thing?
Thanks, Joe
