LCD Monitors?07 Dec 2005 18:20 GMT17
I recently purchased a Viewsonic VA712B LCD monitor. It boasted an 8ms
response time and 350 nits brightness. Despite multiple attempts at
adjusting brightness, contrast, and color settings, the screen always
seemed washed out and it was like staring into a cars headlights. So, I ...
A win-win idea07 Dec 2005 12:43 GMT8
Hi,Excuse me for interrupting you. I'm Alwen King,As a pursuer of "grid
economy", I am very appreciated with its originality. I think "grid
economy" will be a totally new advertising mode during Web 2.0 days.
Therefore, I also prepare a website "www.virtualchristmas.net" to have
Dangerous Sony sofware for cameras07 Dec 2005 11:54 GMT77

Free digital camera07 Dec 2005 11:51 GMT10
If you visit this link, you can get a free digital camera for free.
You'll have to sign up for a service.  Try the $20 Lowe's card or the
$25 Wal-Mart card.  Each costs you $1 and you can cancel it immediately
after and still get the camera.  Thanks!
Monaco Optix RX question07 Dec 2005 03:54 GMT1
I'm a total newbie with intent to learn to calibrate my monitor. I read
some reviews, and am looking to purchase the Monaco Optix RX package. My
question is, is there a significant difference with the Pro and non-Pro
versions, if I buy the non-Pro, do I miss out on some critical ...
Progressive to Normal JPEG?06 Dec 2005 23:38 GMT2
1) Is there a program that will batch convert Progressive JPEGS into Normal
(non-progreesive) JPEGS?
2) Is there a Photo "Album" program that will display whether a photo is
progressive or not? - not one at a time, but a whole folders worth?
f-stop for 4:1 lighting ratio06 Dec 2005 23:13 GMT8
I was reading an article on the web about creating a 4:1 ratio
(key:fill) for portrait lighting. In the example given they have the
key at f11, and the fill at f5.6 - but wouldn't this be an 8:1 ratio?
My camera stops at f11, f8, f6.3, f5.6...
Looking for a Photo Printer Between $150.00 and $200.0006 Dec 2005 22:42 GMT4
I'm looking for a very solid photo printer for between
$150.00 and $200.00. I've been told that these days
the difference in quality is not that much, but there is a
difference in the various options.

FAQ?06 Dec 2005 20:49 GMT2
I am a newbie to the world of photography, but I'm a usenet veteran so
rather than asking a bunch of questions that most of you have seen a
hundred times I was wondering if there is an FAQ for this group?
Thanks!
Projection Screen Resolution06 Dec 2005 19:13 GMT1
Everyone talks about the resolution of digital projectors, cameras, etc.
But when we show our photos, many times the limiting resolution is the
projection screen.  Lenticular screens are very poor resolution and
beaded screens are not much better.  Matte screens are good.  Does
Help with Fuji .RAF format06 Dec 2005 17:47 GMT3
I'm pretty experienced with using .RAW files from my Canon 10D and use a
variety of software packages to convert to 16 Bit Tiffs (including Capture
One, Photoshop's own converter and, my favourite, RawShooter).
I recently bought my wife a Fuji Finepix S9500 camera as she's also
More questions about digicam movies 06 Dec 2005 17:18 GMT4
What movie format in a compact digicam offers the best combination of
smaller file size and high quality? From my non-technical understanding, it
seems that MPEG-4 is pretty good. Are there others I should consider? Also,
I've seen movies saved in .mpg, .avi and .mov file formats ...
Scanner for bw prints06 Dec 2005 15:23 GMT1
I'm scanning some b&w print on my old Canon N640P and I see that the black
are very noisy (kind of randomly distributed lines), no way to reduce the
noise playing with the option of the software. For this reason I'm
evaluating to buy a new flatbed scanner, possibly not too expensive ...
