spot metering sony cybershot19 Dec 2005 16:50 GMT2
How is spot metering supposed to be used? Isn't it mostly for close-up
scenes? My first camera with this gizmo.
(I get a blurry pic with long distance scenes. I suspect it is not supposed
to be used for "landscape" type scenes.)

I'm probably nuts, but I want to give my 5 year old son a digital camera for
Christmas. Any small and exceptionally rugged point & shoots out there?
Thanks,
Rob

Comments on Canon prime lens19 Dec 2005 08:57 GMT18
I am thinking of getting the 50mm f1.4 USM Lens for my Digital Rebel XT
rather than the kit lens:  I am interested in image quality, colour
accuracy, minimal distortion. How does this lens compare with the
cheaper f1.8?

impressive entry from Samsung in the serious camera area.

Olympus repair - maybe OT19 Dec 2005 08:22 GMT7
Don't know where else to post this, but does anyone know where I can get
tiny screws for my Olympus C-50?  Just noticed that I'm missing 7 of the
little suckers.  It still works good though, but any more lost and it
may fall apart!--

Canon Powershot A620 or Fuji F11?19 Dec 2005 07:16 GMT23
Almost convinced to get the Fuji F11 but purple fringing seems a little bit
of a problem in what is otherwise a brilliant review. Then the Canon seems
to get an excellent review but ISO 400 said to be 'unuseable' due to noise!!
The canon has an optical viewfinder but a smaller ...
Reading JPEG header information19 Dec 2005 03:44 GMT11
I need to be able to interpret the header information in a JPEG image file.
I've been poking through Google hits, but am pretty much lost ... should
I be looking at the EXIF, JFIF or JIF specifications? Or maybe some
other, more global specification document that includes the ...

Is it possible to take a good pic of a black dog on a bright sunny day
in a snow covered field?
I am just learning. I bracketed the exposure and his musculature comes
Carena SX370 lenses on digital camera18 Dec 2005 21:07 GMT1
My husband has a Carena SX370 SLR camera with a number of Minolta
lenses.
Can these lenses be used on the newer SLR digital cameras?
Can anyone suggest models to check out that are under $1000?
Thanks to Apple18 Dec 2005 20:49 GMT160
I thought I would share my experience with an Applecare warranty service
request. I bought a new 1 Ghtz Powerbook a little more than two years
ago to use for my digital photography hobby and other uses. About 14
months ago when I was rushing to catch a flight, my Powerbook flew ...
