Played briefly with a D200 today20 Dec 2005 16:28 GMT19
A friend of mine just go his D200 today and I went over to take a look. It's
very nice. As previously indicated, it's well built and feels good in your
hands. Its very similar in size, shape, and weight to my 20D.
It has more rubber padding on it compared to the 20D which ...
Storing lots of photos when away from home.20 Dec 2005 15:49 GMT42
In April I'll be going to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and various
southern African nations for a month's holiday, and naturally I will be
taking my camera (Fuji S5500 in case anyone's interested) with me.  I fully
expect to fill a 1GB xD card many times over, however I (1) do ...
Mat cutter recommendation?20 Dec 2005 14:42 GMT11
I'm looking for a mat cutter recommendation.
I have a small mat cutter that requires use of
a ruler and pencil markings, and you have to hold the
ruler while you make the cut.  I would like a real
Sony Cybershot U30---two pics per battery?20 Dec 2005 14:25 GMT13
I'm using regular alkaline batteries in my tiny Sony Cybershot U30 and
I'm only getting a few flash pics per set of batteries. When I check
the batt's afterward they still read "green" or good/fresh. I can get
maybe 50 pics per fresh batt set without flash. Is the cam bad in some
Polaroid P-500 Won't Print20 Dec 2005 13:04 GMT2
I bought a Polaroid P-500 printer, discontinued and being cleared out
apparently by everyone. I thought, great, a little printer I can put in
my pocket and preview a shoot without batteries or adapters.
But I can't get it to print. I've gone through the manual and checked
Lens to compliment 17-40L (1.6x)20 Dec 2005 11:54 GMT9
What lens or lenses are people using with the 17-40L on 1.6x DSLR's? The
70-200 f4 L seems popular, but what about filling that 40-70 range?
Just looking for some ideas and recommendations

Memory cards20 Dec 2005 10:21 GMT5
I have been looking at the various brands of memory cards. I was in
Walmart and saw an SD 256 Impact one for $19.95 (Canadian) Is there a
difference? I have just switched to digital in the last year. I have
had Sandisk up until now. I have Canon and now I just purchased the
Single use digital camera?20 Dec 2005 09:27 GMT10
I saw single-use digital cameras in a store catalog somewhere.  What's up
with that?  If it's single-use, what difference does it make to the
consumer whether there's film or a flash card inside?  Somebody pleae tell
me they're reused and not simply discarded.
6 Cellphone images in Time Magazine's "Best Photos of the Year" 20 Dec 2005 09:24 GMT19
<http://www.time.com/time/yip/2005/index.html>
#20 of 24 is a tiling of 6 images from the London underground bombing.
The shots were captured on cellphones in near darkness.
I guess it goes to show that interesting or important subject matter
P200 lens AutoClose20 Dec 2005 08:34 GMT5
My Sony P200 camera has a 'feature' whereby the lens closes after about a
minute of inactivity, presumably to save battery life.
If I attach the camera to an adapter which is in turn attached to my
telescope this will, presumably, damage the lens when it tries to shut.
Olympus EVOLT E-300 Owners Only!20 Dec 2005 07:54 GMT4
I am interested in the Olympus EVOLT E-300 Digital SLR.  I have read
several threads about it here, and folks seem to have a fair amount to
say about the size of the E-300 image sensor.  Now, I hate to get into
any discussion of whether size alone matters, so suffice it to say that

TYPE M   xd cards for Fujifilm A210 cameras?20 Dec 2005 07:28 GMT2
I have a Fujifilm A210 camera that came with a 16 MB  TYPE M xd card.
I wish to upgrade & purchase a 512mb xd card for the camera.  All of
the local stores are selling only TYPE M xd cards.  I called Fuji Tech
support & they say that TYPE M cards are NOT compatible with the A210
Velvia look20 Dec 2005 07:02 GMT5
How to process a RAW file to give images that "Velvia" look ? It's
probably not just a saturation boost. I heard you have to play with the
curves or enhance selectively the blues and greens. Has anybody tried
this?
Optical difference between film SLRs and DSLRs?20 Dec 2005 06:00 GMT24
Is it only the size of the sensor? In other words, if I use
the same lens (say 50mm), focused the same way, on a film
SLR and on a DSLR, both cameras viewing the same scene from the
same vantage point, then the image taken by the DSLR will simply
