Old Sigma APO 70-210 f2.823 Dec 2005 09:13 GMT4
I have just bought a Sigma (Canon mount) 70-210 f2.8 APO zoom lens, but
I don't seem to be able to switch it to AF. Instead of a switch it has
a ring with AF and MF and a marker, I guessed that you should simply
twist the ring to select AF, but is doesn't move. I am not totally
WHY, for the love of heaven, don't they make UPGRADEABLE digital cameras???23 Dec 2005 07:49 GMT38

Decent photo printer?23 Dec 2005 07:34 GMT17
I have a Canon iP4000. It's terrible. Totally washed out. Maybe I'd
print a flyer for a bake sale on it, but definitely not a photograph.
What's a decent photo printer in, say, the $400-$500 range? Or do you
need a $1000 dye sub to get a decent print?
Ni-MH rechargers23 Dec 2005 06:16 GMT1
Just got a recharger w/4 AA Ni-MH 2000mAh batteries for $15.
It appears to be a non-brand, the Energizer w/4 AA 2500mAh went for
$22.
It says in the manual 14-16hrs to charge.
Use of Photshop negates reality23 Dec 2005 06:01 GMT28
I just made a photo using Photoshop CS2 that has no basis in reality.  It
was made up of elements from four different pictures.  Of course we do this
all the time, but it brings to mind the fact that you really can't believe
anything you see in a picture today.  It used to be ...
Why do some people join photo review clubs?23 Dec 2005 05:58 GMT15
I've been playing around with several photo websites.  three to be
exact.  photographers workshop, photo workshop, shutterxtreme.  (just
like the name)  They all have good and bad attributes.  Photo workshop
is mainly very professional photographers, and they will hammer crap
How to use ICM profiles?23 Dec 2005 05:34 GMT5
I have an ICM profile for my Epson inkjet printer.  I also use Digital Image
Pro for photo printing which has an option to use ICM profiles (for both the
monitor and printing).  If I enable the printer profile in Digital Image Pro
should I also chose ICM in the Epson printer ...
And yet another definition of "Chimping"  (take your pick)23 Dec 2005 02:27 GMT1
Chimping (or Chimp) is also an Internet and blogging term that means to
complain. It's so simple, but has caught on famously over the past year.
Here's more info on it:
Can you recomend a camera?23 Dec 2005 01:29 GMT5
Can anyone recomend a small digital camera for around or less than $200?
Tutorials23 Dec 2005 00:12 GMT2
I just bought a second user (maybe 3rd or 4th) Minolta Dimage Z1.
It is my first experience of anything other than a simple point and
shoot 1.3 megapixel digital camera that was totally automatic. My 35mm
memories are long since in the recycle bin bit of my brain.
Are USB cables for Nikon, Sony, and Canon the same?22 Dec 2005 20:32 GMT7
I have a Nikon D50, Canon SD500 digital cameras and a Sony DVD403
camcorder. They all come with USB cables that look identical on both
ends. Do I need them all or are they all interchangeable?
Thanks,

I have joined to gain some info. can any one tell me what does the
focal length of camera sognify, how much zoom DSLRs provide and what is
the basic diff in a point and shoot camera and SLR(D). I know what
anSLR stands for
Does Downsampling Reduce Image Quality?22 Dec 2005 20:23 GMT8
I understand that upsampling can result in a poor quality image, but I
have always been under the impression that downsampling does not
reduce the image quality.
It's a little difficult to be sure this question is clear, so I'm
Digicams with USB memory stick?22 Dec 2005 20:02 GMT18

instead of an SD, CF, xD, MS, or whatever card?  Picture here:

If not, why not?  Maybe they too slow.
