Formatting memeory cards09 Nov 2005 15:54 GMT2
I mistakenly formatted a 256mb compact flash card via Windows XP, and not
via my Ixus 400.
I do not have access to a W98 PCMCIA system. Any suggestions please.

recommendations for DSC module09 Nov 2005 15:23 GMT2
I'm looking for a self-contained digital still camera module.  I need to be
able to trigger the capture of the image then download it through a serial
(or I2C) interface with a microcontroller.  I'd like the module to be as
small as possible and to run on about 3.0 or 3.3 VDC.
Mac OS X 10.4.3 and Nikon D70s09 Nov 2005 11:42 GMT1
One of the undocumented changes to Mac OS X 10.4.3 (from 10.4.2),
released last week, is that it now supports NEF files from the Nikon
D70s.  Both iPhoto and Preview can open and display these files.
Help/Advice Wanted09 Nov 2005 11:42 GMT4
I am seeking help/advice with a problem I am having.  On bright days, some
of the sky areas of my photos seem to be "layered".  I have noticed this on
other peoples photos but do not know what is causing it.  I am using an
Olympus E100RS which is a good camera but has limited ...
Megapixel to Print size questions and Fractal Print Pro curiosities...09 Nov 2005 10:06 GMT3
I am trying to squeeze larger, quality images out of a 6.1MP D100.  I
have always had major disbelief for interpolation but Fractals Print
Pro is supposedly able to increase image res by 800% with little
degradation.  In my tests I find that complete bull****.  I am

How do the SB-800 and SB-600 talk?09 Nov 2005 07:58 GMT5
Anyone know how the Nikon SB-800, SB-600, D70s, D200, etc. "talk" to
each other?  It's not via RF and I was told it's not via IR.  Someone
told me that it's not IR but that the speedlights are "optically"
driven.  Technically, IR is optical since it's light.  So, I don't know
Help on Creating QTVR09 Nov 2005 07:50 GMT2
I am trying to create a QTVR panorama from a still image panorama. In the
QTVR export settings there are 3 parameters I do not understand: pan, tilt
and fov.
I noticed my QTVR pano shows black areas above and below the image. Is it
Picasa, good or not?09 Nov 2005 06:53 GMT8
I have seen it on my brother's computer and it looks slick and fairly fast
but I don't like to install anything before I am sure it will not do any
harm.  There are some controls to improve the pictures and do rotations, are
these modifying the original files or is there any way to ...
Any digicams any good at ISO 3200?09 Nov 2005 06:43 GMT14
I happen to be one of those who do mostly available light photography.
Which of the current DLSRs has the least noise at ISO 3200? I really
cannot tell from the review sites. I'd like to see real shots of
people taken under identical conditions, but can't find any.

zoom vs. resolution09 Nov 2005 05:51 GMT12
I want to buy a new digital camera and ask for some experts advice...
Currently, I use a video cam to take still pictures. Although its resolution
is low, I like its 10x optical zoom which I use a lot. Even most of the
current digital cameras have only a very limited optical zoom ...
Change the DSC_xxxx File Naming09 Nov 2005 04:30 GMT16
I'm sure there's a way to do this but haven't been able to figure out
yet. I want to change the file naming from DSC_xxxx to be D50_xxxx
Am I mistaken to think this is customizable?
I am using a Nikon D50.

Looking to buy an dSLR09 Nov 2005 03:51 GMT4
I have been looking around for a dSLR for a while now.  I have my eyes
set on a Canon EOS 20D.  I'm trying to find a good deal out there.
Does anybody have any suggestions where I might be able to find a good
deal on the net or otherwise?  (I know right now Canon has some
