D200: incompatible batteries.  Scammed again.15 Nov 2005 03:11 GMT79
According to Thom Hogan (www.bythom.com) the D200 uses a new EN-EL3e
battery and old EN-EL3's won't work.  D70/D100 owners with multiple
EN-EL3's are delighted to hear that, I'm sure.  Looks like the
proprietary battery runaround is not slowing down.  The new battery
A factory "rebuild" question15 Nov 2005 02:52 GMT7
Many years ago I read about factory re-built small home appliances as being
a real bargain as they were tested much more thoroughly than regular
production models. This has saved me a lot of money on vacuum cleaners,
carpet cleaners, power washers, etc. over the years. They have ...
Polarizing Filters.15 Nov 2005 01:59 GMT11
Has anyone seen a Polarizing filter that completly eliminated reflection
from glass or water?
Would a cheap filter be less efefctive at removing reflection?
Would hoya make a good filter?
Reading Device.15 Nov 2005 01:48 GMT8
Is there such a thing that allows you to plug in your photo cards
(sd,xd,compactflash or whatever) into a USB reader that will allow any
computer with USB sockets to read them?
Comparing, adjusting color balance between two cameras15 Nov 2005 01:20 GMT4
For now, I have the use of two tiny cameras: a Casio EX-S500 and a Canon
SD30. I find that the Casio is better for features, convenience, flash,
customization, and portability. But the Canon produces better pictures,
to my eyes. For typical point-and-shoot pictures (people, scenery) ...

plastic/metal thing that goes around your car license plate.
Practical Holography14 Nov 2005 23:43 GMT9
Does anyone have experience and recommendations for making holographs
when traveling across country? Is it even practical or reasonable to
make holographs of vacation objects?
Lens$'s versus Body$'s trade-off14 Nov 2005 23:17 GMT7
Mrs. Claus has asked me what I want for my new DLSR & lens combination.  I'm
not sure what to tell her and the opinions of others would be appreciated.
My dilemma involves the trade-off between the lens cost and camera body
cost.  I know that conventional wisdom says to put the ...

Cano 300d (rebel) to 350d (XT) worth the swap?14 Nov 2005 21:48 GMT10
I have been using a Canon 300d for the last 10 months and don't have any
issues with it. However I now have the chance to change it to a 350d for
about an extra £100 odd .
I have looked at the DP review site and they both seem pretty equal in
About whitebalance14 Nov 2005 21:19 GMT4
I have question about whitebalance (WB) situation with Canon 300D SLR. I
like to take long exposure pictures at night time. Is it relevant to adjust
WB in camera when taking pictures on artificial light? Or is WB better
adjust in Photoshop when finishing off.
Newbie question on FD Canon lenses14 Nov 2005 21:02 GMT14
Are there or might there ever be a digital body by Canon (or whomever)
available to use the older FD Bayonett style lenses?
I've an older AE-1 and a LOT of lenses from 28 to 1000mm and would LOVE
to be able to use them again in digital mode.
scanning negatives - resolution14 Nov 2005 20:10 GMT2
i would like to scan all my negatives to have digital copy of all my photos.
when I came to lab I asked them to scan them in 2400 dpi. i sure sounded
like an idiot, because they obviously scan only in 300 dpi :-) but my point
is,  25x36 (cm) in 300 dpi equals 9.84x 14.17 inch and ...
Fuji FinePix S9000 9 Mega Pixel Camera Came Out 17 Mega Pixel?14 Nov 2005 17:09 GMT5
I found that my Fuji FinePix S9000's output RAW file (.RAF) is 19,139,712
bytes. When the same photo is converter to TIFF (.TIF) by the accompanied
software (FinePix Viewer), it becomes 53,321,728 bytes, and Windows
