how to remove dithering in scanned images?20 Nov 2005 01:14 GMT4
Scanning photos/illustrations at high resolution (e.g. 400dpi) results in
visible dithering dots. Is there a software to change the dithering into
solid color without making the image blurry?
help with basic shot19 Nov 2005 23:53 GMT13
Hope you guys don't mind answering a basic question for me.   I'm trying to
take a relatively close shot of a new borns hands and want that to be in
focus and the background to be out of focus.  I thought adjusting the
aperture would do this but it doesn't seem to work.  I have a ...
Canon 350D versus Nikon D5019 Nov 2005 23:20 GMT7
I've got my choice of a new digital slr down to these two models.  I'm a
long-time Canon fan, but the Nikon looks very nice too.  On the DP
Review website, I felt the color and shadow detail of the Nikon images
looked a little better, but the Canon images were sharper.
Buying advice19 Nov 2005 23:02 GMT6
I have seriously considered a Cannon Digital rebel because I would
like to have the flexibility of interchangable lenses. Photography
used to be a hobby of mine that I eventually want to get back into. At
the same time, I would like something convenient and handy that I
Kauai19 Nov 2005 22:39 GMT10
I'll be there soon, and would like some guidance as to what to avoid as
well as lesser known spots. If they are really secret, please E-mail...heh.
Taking one or two short ish lenses only. ie, not going to try to do
wildlife at all..... unless you insist.
Canon S2 IS vs Panasonic FZ519 Nov 2005 21:31 GMT9
Any comments re: the above would be appreciated.
Depth of field19 Nov 2005 21:02 GMT20
Apologies if this is a rehash, I searched on all the related terms I could
think of first...
In a "real" camera (sorry about that), the f-stop setting of the lens
affects the DOF because of the physical size of the aperture.  How is
lens distortion removal19 Nov 2005 21:00 GMT2
Anybody know a Mac OSX software to remove lens distortion from digital
camera pictures?
Onto www.tweakersoft.com I have seen LensTweaker. What do you think
about?
Card Reader19 Nov 2005 20:52 GMT117
I just bought a Dynex CF card reader (Model: VPN: DY-CF131). It came with
no instructions whatsoever. Seems to work fine, although the cards are a
little difficult to engage on the tracks; once positioned however, they
seem to slide home satisfactorily.
High Resolution from 35mm Film19 Nov 2005 20:17 GMT80
I have listened to the film-vs-digital argument for years. Inasmuch as
I haven't had a chance to experiment with 35 mm film, I could only
imagine the kind of resolution I could get if I had a good-quality
system and film.
kodak easyshare dx 440 vs canon powershot a520 vs fujiflm finepix e550. my first digital camera. any comments on these cameras pro and con?19 Nov 2005 20:08 GMT5

Sony Question19 Nov 2005 17:27 GMT1
Is it possible to send the display of the LCD image from a Sony DSC directly to a computer?
Looking for panorama capable tripod19 Nov 2005 16:39 GMT14
Are there some decent, reasonably priced tripods that can be used for
shooting panorama's? One that has the pivot under the 'film' plane?
On a similar note, on my Canon S2-IS, there is a 'stitch mode, but it
seems to not lock in the exposure settings. So as I pan across the
online pro photo lab for print19 Nov 2005 16:29 GMT10
I'm looking for an online lab for quality printing.  I want
to be able to upload large files of non-standard sizes (due
to cropping etc.).
I was all ready to go with mpix when I noticed they only
