Weeding out duplicates05 Oct 2005 12:20 GMT21
Hello.  I'm wondering if anyone that frequents this NG has ever had to deal
with numerous duplicates of photographs.  In a recent PC upgrade, I detected
that lots (count: 1,000's) of my digital photographs were, in fact,
duplicates.  I think this happened gradually over time as I ...
Zoom Lens for Canon Rebel XT?05 Oct 2005 11:10 GMT16
I recently got a Canon Rebel XT with the kit lens (18-55). I am mainly
shooting cars at shows and the race track. I would like some suggestions on
a lens with more zoom under $400. Can someone point me in the right
direction?

Canon 350D vs 20D05 Oct 2005 05:31 GMT13
Hey all
How big are the practical photo quality differences between the 350D and
20D? I'm thinking of buying one of the two, but due to budget issues, I have
to choose between the 350D with higher quality lenses (Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0
Airport and Building X-Ray machines and Digital Cameras05 Oct 2005 02:45 GMT39
Folks,
Recently, a friend took her Canon 20D into a building with high
security. She was forced to put it through their X-ray machines.  There
did not seem to be any ill effects, but in general, can this damage the
Canon L lenses05 Oct 2005 02:38 GMT23
In relation to my previous post, I'm wondering whether to go for an L lens
or not. Many pro photographers I've talked to say that generally the quality
of a shot produced with an L lens depends on the conditions in which the
shot was taken. I'm an aviation photographer, which is ...
The myth of "weather sealing" and the 5D.05 Oct 2005 01:28 GMT25
I suggest some of those who whine about the lack of "weather sealing"
on the 5D read what a pro who makes his living shooting in all kinds
of conditions has to say about the subject.

Which internet labs print at what dpi?05 Oct 2005 00:39 GMT9
Anyone know what DPI the common internet labs print at, with their
professional photo printers (assume digital files are given to them, of
course)?    I'm trying to figure out which ones print at 200 dpi, which at
240 dpi, which at 300 dpi, etc.
Screensaver from online album...04 Oct 2005 23:55 GMT9
I recently received a newsletter from some photo site, among other
things advertising a new possibility of creating a Windows screensaver
from an online album, automatically updating the screensaver whenever
new photos were added to the album.

RAW converters and halos around bright objects04 Oct 2005 22:15 GMT9
Folks,
I have Photoshop CS. One issue I have seen with the RAW converter is
that it tends to produce halo's around bright objects (as opposed to
DXO and RSE which do not). Does anyone know if Adobe has solved this

UK passport/using digital photos/resolution04 Oct 2005 21:38 GMT6
I have some passport size photos printed out by byphotos who, according to
their website, print at 300 dpi.
I was going to use these for a (UK) passport application but notice that the
notes say "The photographs must be printed at 1200dpi resolution or better
