Wide or narrow angle?05 Oct 2005 21:28 GMT7
Apparently some cameras have a wider angle of view than others - i.e. good
for indoor or group shots, but how do I interpret those lens figures i.e.
38-114mm or 28-105mm etc? how do I decide which camera has a poor (narrow)
field of view and which has good 'wide angle' performance?

3" Screens Everywhere...05 Oct 2005 21:14 GMT13
Sanyo [who screw together most of the worlds cameras brands in Japan]
started it a few months ago with the world first production 3" screen.
Kodak are currently "testing" one.
Now both Sony and Olympus have jumped on the bandwagon.
Canon EOS 300D/350D05 Oct 2005 21:08 GMT8
Can anyone give me an idea - or point me towards a web link - as to the
differences between the Canon EOS 300D and 350D. I want to upgrade from my
EOS 500N 35mm camera which has been a great for me but time to move on I
think.
Recommend camera with 2.5" TFT screen05 Oct 2005 21:08 GMT4
I'm hoping to pick up one of these fairly cheaply.
My old digital camera works fine, apart from its measly 1" TFT screen,
so in my upgrade the only thing I'd really like is a nice big 2.5".
Hopefully pretty cheap.
Canon G5--Is Speed of Compact Flash Card a Factor?05 Oct 2005 20:55 GMT4
I'm buying a 1 gig Compact Flash card for
my Canon PowerShot G5.
Should I look for a card marked "40X," which
is what is in the camera now, or will a PNY Compact Flash,
How to choose battery recharger?05 Oct 2005 20:39 GMT16
I'm buying a Canon A520, and 8 or so NiMH batteries and a charger for
them. I've read up on different chargers and the advantages and
disadvantages of smart chargers as well as the differences in price. My
guess is, that after a month or so, I'll use the camera sporadically,
Pentax Optio S and Windows XP SP2?05 Oct 2005 20:34 GMT3
I can't get my Sp2 box to see the camera. Works fine on my Sp1 box. Is there
a workaround?
Thanks

Replacing a tripod head05 Oct 2005 20:32 GMT1
I have a tripod with a pan-head that I'd like replace with a ball-head
from my monopod. But after opening up the tripod and monopod, I can't
figure how to do the surgery. Below are the pics of the tripod head,
monopod head and the ball-head. Are these standard designs?
How fast can a camera write to an SD memory card?05 Oct 2005 20:28 GMT14
I am about to buy my first digital camera,
a Panasonic DMC-FZ5, and I'm considering
which SD card to buy. I see a new expensive
1G card that reads and writes at 20meg/sec.
Canon A520 Software Install Errors05 Oct 2005 20:26 GMT1
When I try to run the setup for the software that came with my A520, I get
error after error like this:
"The string PRODUCT_NAME could not be found in the string table"
If I keep clicking okay, the setup completes and the software seems to work,
Sensor with Multiple Pixel Sizes?05 Oct 2005 20:07 GMT4
(BTW, I'm new to this subject, so forgive me if I use some terminology
incorrectly)
I recall a few years ago reading a short article in a magazine--can't
remember which one, maybe Popular Science--about someone designing a

Battery advice for 20D05 Oct 2005 13:57 GMT4
I'm considering the Optex UL-BP511 which is rated at 1500mAh instead of
buying the much more expensive Canon BP511 (rated at 1100mAh)
http://www.batterycanada.com/up-bp511.asp
Will it be safe to use the Optex battery with the Canon charger?
Genuine Epson Cartridges05 Oct 2005 13:50 GMT6
I ORDERED (2) Genuine Epson cartridges from ATLEX....$8. for shipping a
box that weighs 2 ounces.  Total cost near $50.
I then PRICED genuine Epson cartridges -  $3.00 to ship, BUT the ink
was more expensive.  Total Cost  near $50.
