Do We Really NEED The Latest Version Of PhotoShop?07 Oct 2005 21:52 GMT39
I have 5.5, and I use it to tweak my digital images before printing.  Don't
do much more than that.  I suspect that a lot of people have similarly
modest requirements.
Are most people upgrading every year, or are there a lot of old versions of

Images from the recent annular eclipse07 Oct 2005 20:37 GMT1
Taken in Spain, one of our discussion forum members has posted some
excellent images from the recent eclipse, including a time lapse animation
of the moon passing in front of the sun. It's well woth a look, though
dial-up users will have a bit of a wait as the images are quite ...

Bare bones photo editor07 Oct 2005 17:20 GMT10
Could anyone suggest a very basic photo editor that will let me get in and
out of the program in a snap?
Really all I want to do is open a photo(s),  resize and adjust brightness
and that's about it.
Browsing in Date Taken sequence07 Oct 2005 17:19 GMT9
One strength of IrfanView (3.97) is that it can sort in 'EXIF date',
i.e Date/Time Taken, which is often my preferred sequence. As far as I
know, none of these freeware alternatives can do so:

How to tell bad NiMH AA batteries07 Oct 2005 15:25 GMT31
I bought eight Sony 2300mah batteries and a Camelion *intelligent*
charger. The charger charges each battery individually and has an LCD
display which shows the charging status on each battery. One by one,
the charger labelled all the eight Sony batteries as "BAD". The same

One second discrepancy?07 Oct 2005 14:44 GMT5
Although not exactly keeping me away at night, I'm puzzled by a tiny
difference in the data for a batch of recent photos. Here's an
example:

Can't charge my Casio Exilim Z5507 Oct 2005 14:18 GMT1
My battery is dead. I plugged the cradle into the wall using the

the camera into the cradle, the charge light flashes red, and the
camera doesn't charge. Everything else works fine -- if I push the
Silly question re: battery charger07 Oct 2005 13:57 GMT6
I have a Sony Ni-MH battery charger (BC-CS2A) that came with my Cybershot
DSC-P73 camera.  The camera's manual says to use only Sony brand Ni-MH
batteries in the charger, but the label on the charger itself only says to
use Ni-MH and not other types (alkaline, manganese, etc.).
