Minolta Scan Dual owners- help please, poor focus!19 Oct 2005 11:10 GMT1
I've just purchased a Minolta Scan Dual IV with the intention of digitizing
a large slide archive. I'm not at all satisfied with the results of my first
few scans. Specifically, the images are very soft compared to the excellent
sharp origonals, like a rubbish mail order developer.

300D is suddenly not focusing19 Oct 2005 05:57 GMT12
Yesterday, suddenly, my 300D stopped working in autofocus with my
70-200 lens.  It seeks from edge to edge of the focus range and back,
and never finds a focus point.  I've tried swapping to manual focus and
back to autofocus, removing and reattaching the lens, changing modes,
Boston/Cambridge where to buy Lumix DMC-FZ20K19 Oct 2005 03:02 GMT4
I will be in Cambridge-Boston Area next week for a conference and while
there (I am from Canada) I am hoping to buy a Lumix DMC-FZ20K to take
advantage of low tax rate plus low exchange rate.
I made a quick research and found out that next street to my hotel
No iSAPS in Canon PowerShot 620?19 Oct 2005 02:49 GMT3
I have noticed that the new PowerShot 620 sample pics don't really match
good old G6 sample pics for sharpness.
They both have 7.1 Mpixels and are said to have the same lens. I don't
really know about that. But another thing I have seen they have left out,
Film photographer trying to keep an open mind19 Oct 2005 02:47 GMT56
My wife and I have been advanced amateur photographers for many years,
we even have our own darkroom at home.  For years we've resisted the
move to digital, at first because we weren't convinced of the quality
and also because of my inherent fear of trusting everything I shoot to
using SD memory card as portable storage device19 Oct 2005 01:09 GMT3
does anyone know of a way that i can store data on an SD 1GB card using
my canon ixus 40 as a medium?
in theory i figured i'd just be able to drag and drop data onto the
card, but i think the driver (or perhaps something else) is only
Are manufacturers' warranties upheld for cross-border sales?18 Oct 2005 22:24 GMT4
Hey, all.
I have a lens I plan to sell, and I intend to open it up for US as well
as Canadian buyers (I'm in Canada). The thing's still quite new, and
has most of the manufacturer's warranty still on it. I have not yet
Spam after submitting email address to Nikon18 Oct 2005 22:13 GMT44
Thanks Nikon
I get all the email addressed to a domain registered in my name, so I am
able to use a unique email address each time I register with a company
online (and always check or uncheck the boxes as appropriate to avoid spam)
Dropping ZoomBrowser18 Oct 2005 18:53 GMT24
I'm giving my thoughts on ZoomBrowser to save othere the time I spent
with ths software. It came with the camera (Canon A520) and comes, I'm
told, with all Canons. They aren't doing their customers much of a
favor.

Casio QV-700 support in Linux?18 Oct 2005 14:14 GMT8
I have managed to get my hands on an old Casio QV-700.  (Well,
actually, years ago I bought it, and then when I bought a Digital Rebel
I gave the Casio to someone.  They now have a better digital camera,
and they have given me back the Casio.)

Film scanner - on the brink of parting with cash18 Oct 2005 11:47 GMT7
I am on the verge of buying the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II
film scanner.
The objective is to digitise 4 years worth of 35mm negatives and to
update my digital photograph archive (which was initially built up using
NIR filter18 Oct 2005 11:09 GMT8
Are there bandpass filters out there that are selective for all in the
IR range, above 800nm. I seem to mostly see narrow bandpass filters for
around 800-/+50nm.
