| Why do only primes have macro | 20 Oct 2005 12:15 GMT | 125 |
Why is that macro capability exists only in prime (as in fixed focal length!!!) lenses? Other than primes, only a few cheap telephoto zoom lenses seem to have macro. In contrast, all P&S digicams have a macro feature and some like the

| What is it with Kodak DCS batteries? | 20 Oct 2005 12:02 GMT | 2 |
I have a Nikon D70. Granted, I don't use it that heavily at all, but the battery seems to last for ever - seems to need charging every week or so, I think I get around 500 shots out of it (guessing here). Stays charged in the unused camera for weeks and weeks and weeks. Never have

For those of you who are using the programs, I've just uploaded Wega2 1.0.8.5. And a while back I updated Focalplot renamed to ExposurePlot due to the enhancements, see below.

| 28mm wide angle in digital | 20 Oct 2005 09:00 GMT | 15 |
Boy, I've been jilted. New Canon Powershot S60 can't produce sharp pictures at its wide-angle (28mm in 35mm equiv.) setting. Either the edges or center of all images are blurry and distorted. Can't even read the street signs in my shots. And the purple fringing is severe, even

| Ok, I've had it with this megapixel thing ... | 20 Oct 2005 08:54 GMT | 70 |
Ok, I've got to get this off my chest. These days, we see camera manufacturer rolling off unit after unit of 7 or 8 megapixel cameras targetted at the home user. In my opinion, 7 megapixels is way too much for the average home user.

| Best Camera Store in the Scottsdale area | 20 Oct 2005 08:03 GMT | 7 |
I'm in Scottsdale on business and want to get a smallish travel tripod. I saw some at the local Ritz, but want to look at a few others. However I have not been able to find a camera store here besides the Ritz family. Are there any indy camera stores in the city?

| Sony 707 | 20 Oct 2005 01:34 GMT | 4 |
Keep getting an error message, "no memory stick," or "memory stick access." Of course there IS a memory stick and it's empty of data. Battery is fully charged. If I take out the memory stick & reinsert, usually, but not always, clears the problem; whatever it might be.

| QUESTION: Any news on the new Canon 75-300IS lens? | 20 Oct 2005 00:56 GMT | 22 |
Hey, all. I gather that this lens is due out right about now. I've yet to find any reviews of it - has anyone else seen any? I'm not as concerned about the speed of the thing as I am about the

| RAW format and printers | 20 Oct 2005 00:19 GMT | 16 |
Are there tools that map RAW images to printers without going through RGB first? How closely does the RGB signal that televisions and computers deal with match the RGB that the human eye recognizes? The world comes in a continuous spectrum of colors. These are measured

I am looking to get a new camera and have narrowed my selection between these 2. The specs are quite similar and price too with the Nikon costing around £15 more than the sony. Was just wondering what you guys thought is the better of the 2 perhaps someone has owned both ?!.

| Poster-size Print | 19 Oct 2005 23:03 GMT | 9 |
I'd like to order 1 or 2 poster-size prints: 16x20 or 20x30. 1. Any recommendations for online companies that have done this for you? 2. I have a few 4MP images. Would it be best to resize these myself, with Photoshop? Or will the online service have better software to do

| Kodak's LS443 Camera *or* Kodak's Greediness at its Worst | 19 Oct 2005 22:44 GMT | 72 |
My LS443 Kodak Digital camera failed all of a sudden, with no human intervention nor abuse of any sort after approximately 5000 shots over less than three years The lens mechanism wouldn't retract. This is the infamous "Error #45"
