Invites to view Photographs.25 Oct 2005 22:53 GMT3
I have been engaging is some postings regarding the merits of some of the
photography which we have been invited to view.
I have taken a certain amount of stick over my opinions on the quality, or
rather lack of quality, in a lot of the stuff involved.

How do I choose a film scanner?25 Oct 2005 21:52 GMT3
I've decided to scan my thousands of 35mm negatives and slides. The
largest they will usually be be is 640x480, occasionally 800x600. if
they do get printed, the largest I print is 8x10.
Now, how do I choose a scanner? Obviously it should be USB 2.0 due to
5D images25 Oct 2005 21:22 GMT25
Well, as promised, but earlier than I thought I'd get it done, I've put up
26 images shot with my 5D and my three f2.8L lenses and one Sigma 15mm f2.8
EX fisheye.  They are as they came out of the camera, JPEGs, Picture Setting
as Standard, no unsharp mask applied, or dust ...

Compact flash working on PC but not on Camera25 Oct 2005 17:56 GMT8
This is a problem that I originally posted on: uk.comp.homebuilt on
21/10/05, with the same subject. Unfortunately, no one has been able to
resolve the problem, despite their best efforts.
I'm hoping someone here can shed some light or offer some guidance.
How long did your digital camera last before breaking?25 Oct 2005 15:30 GMT12
I've got a 3 year old Canon A70, and am having lens problems with it
after taking 8000 photos. I'm just wondering, how long have other
peoples cameras lasted under normal, gentle use? Thanks,
Colin
Can I use Photoshop "Slice" to simply split an image into many parts?25 Oct 2005 14:19 GMT20
I need to figure out a way ASAP to split a large (8.5 x 11 inches) JPG
image into separate jpgs.  My school has printed pages of barcodes, 2
columns by 13 or so. I need to handle about 500 barcodes, and separate
them into separate jpg files to be printed on library cards/badges.
Generic batteries, my experience25 Oct 2005 13:58 GMT4
I have a SD400 that uses a NB-4L battery.  I wanted a spare battery,
but considering a Genuine Canon battery cost around $50, I bought a
generic battery.

recently purchased an epson 4900 scanner for some of my 4x5  and 6x6

I am looking for a command line method of getting at the data my (Canon

Memory Stick Life Span25 Oct 2005 11:17 GMT77
What sort of life span do people get from their camera memory sticks? I
ask because I wonder if my camera (a Sony) wears them out faster than
usual. Every few months, my camera starts to have problems reading the
stick, especially when I go to upload the photos to my computer. The
