Sony R1 a disaster?12 Sep 2005 18:38 GMT8
Notice the noise in those samples.  I doubt whether even moderate
reduction would fix them.
However, sharpness seems good for 100% crops.

Can anyone recommend a cheap UK printer for large-format canvas?12 Sep 2005 18:30 GMT2
Does anyone know a cheap but reliable camvas printer in the UK? I want
to upload the pics as jpegs (around 500k each) and have them printed on
canvas around 60cm by 80cm.. Just rolled up prints will do, I'll mount
them myself. I've been to a few sites but they seem to add charges ...

6MP Nikon D100 - good enough for critical 24" x 42" advertising posters?12 Sep 2005 16:24 GMT29
I am one of those old mares who has stuck clear of digital, apart from
a convenience 8MP small-sensor non-SLR P&S which is fine for what I use
it for.

Repair Broken Hot Shoe?12 Sep 2005 09:18 GMT8
The plastic hotshoe piece on the bottom of this flash is cracked
off on one side. Is there a way to replace it? It'd be a shame to
have to replace the entire flash for something as apparently
vulnerable to damage as this, and epoxy isn't working that well.

Is there software that will allow one to adjust each of the RGB curves
as a function of all of the other channels? That is, for example, Blue
will be a function of Red, Green, & Blue. Thanks.

Question on Irfanview12 Sep 2005 01:43 GMT5
I'm trying to help someone with very little knowledge of photo editing. I
own Photoshop but know very little about Irfanview.
How can the thumbnails (T) be set to appear at a particular directory? I

The future of digital is not quite here yet.11 Sep 2005 23:52 GMT19
I mean to say that digital photography for the masses is just around the
corner but that the corner is after a few left turns.  I'd like to share
something I posted in another forum:

Wow! - don't the Japanese make great cameras?!....11 Sep 2005 23:02 GMT424
On December 14, 1945, Japanese soldiers forced 150 American prisoners of
war at a compound on Palawan into an air-raid shelter. Then they doused them
with gasoline and threw in a matc
A few of the Americans, a very few, survived. Army PFC Eugene Nielson was
