How bad is digital zoom?30 Aug 2005 06:57 GMT18
Most cameras have digital zoom.
All reviewers say it's worthless.
Crop it and enlarge it in Photoshop, and the pic will be much better, they
say.
"The right to bear cameras"30 Aug 2005 06:55 GMT42
"No sooner had we started than we were stopped by Sheriffs, required to
give them our IDs and subject ourselves to background searches and then
detained for about 20 minutes. Our crime? Carrying a camera."

large portraits from EOS 20D 30 Aug 2005 06:28 GMT3
Assuming I use a EOS 20D with say a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 or comparable
Canon lens (perhaps a Canon 50mm F1.8 if you think it's better), I
want to try to do some 18x24 inch portraits.
I tried to do some reading and from what I read as long as I have
An Epson 1290 question.30 Aug 2005 05:40 GMT7
I am thinking of buying one of these printers but I see the colours are all
in one cartridge. This would imply than the moment one colour of ink runs
out I have to replace the whole cartridge. Or does the Epson 1290 cleverly
mix colours with the ink it has left?
What Lenses Will Fit On Canon Digital Rebel and 20D?30 Aug 2005 05:29 GMT8
I've had a Canon AE-1 Program film camera since 1984, and over the
years built up a decent collection of lenses and converters.  Since
1999, I've migrated to digital, using the Olympus 3000Z.  Now I'm
thinking of purchasing a digital SLR, and am leaning toward the Rebel
Where to Buy Online?30 Aug 2005 05:27 GMT7

Cokin filters30 Aug 2005 05:12 GMT2
I am now using a Nikon D70 with the 18-70 zoom. I am thinking about buying
the Cokin system specially for the gradual neutral density filters. I was
considering buying the P series but am now wondering if it would not be
preferable to buy the Z pro to insure against vignetting.

Help needed with international transaction gone wrong30 Aug 2005 04:28 GMT6
I am appealing to any photographers who know Hendrik Hoesel, ex employee of
Leica Germany, to help me with this situation.
In November 2004, I purchased a Nikon 28-70 f2.8 lens from Mr Hoesel on ebay
(username palmahendrik). The lens has been lost in the post. Mr Hoesel has
Canon AC Adapter Failure30 Aug 2005 01:00 GMT2
The ACK-E2 AC adapter that I use on my 20D (also for 10D and Digital
Rebel) stops working after a couple of hours.
When it is first plugged in the camera's charge indicator shows full
charge, as it always ought to when the adapter is in use. After a

Zeiss/Contax Distagon on EOS bodies29 Aug 2005 23:57 GMT4
Who has had experience with Contax lenses (especially medium
WA like 24mm) mounted via an adapter to Canon digital EF mount
camers (especially full frame)? I have seen some references where
these lenses seem far superior to Canon's.

Any recommendations for image editing software that uses "Artifical
Intelligence" (AI)-- neural networks for "image reconstruction;" for
filling-in scratches in simple e.g., (line drawing, 8 color) images?

Does photoshop Elements 3 do everything that Photoshop does?29 Aug 2005 21:34 GMT5
