Good general purpose lens for Nikon D50 (?)31 Aug 2005 23:43 GMT15
Well, I'm continuing to read and research as part of my decision to
move up from a P&S digital to dSLR.  I'm now looking at the Nikon D50.
Would this lens:

Permission to use a tripod and monopod31 Aug 2005 22:15 GMT11
Some time ago, I read about the fact that rather often cities/towns require
a permit to use a tripod in their place. But what about monopods?

NimH batteries31 Aug 2005 22:10 GMT6
I get very confused about NiMh batteries. On the one hand we are told that
you don't have to have them fully discharged before recharging because they
don't have a memory. But on the other hand I understand that if you don't
have an expensive charger that knows when full charge has ...
Digital SLR's - expensive hobby31 Aug 2005 20:44 GMT134
I have never owned an SLR, always seemed to much of a camera for my skills
(and too pricey).  But I am wondering about the thoughts on digital
technology from those who do have them.
Someone could own a film SLR for 10, 20 years and just upgrade the lenses as
where to buy non reflective glass?31 Aug 2005 16:36 GMT33
I'm trying to archive photographs with my digital camera. I need glass
to hold the photos flat, and I read that it is best to use non
reflective glass. Where do I get that?
And what exactly is it? Is it just regular glass with an antireflective

Fake memory sticks?31 Aug 2005 15:39 GMT8
I bought a 1GB Sony memory stick pro for ~US$88, here in Bombay, for my
Sony W7. Later, I complained to the dealer from whom I bought the
camera (not the stick) that he was asking too much for the stick (he
had quoted $128)!! He said I must've bought one of those fake memory

Given the review on
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0508/05082209canoneos5d.asp
Do you think the $3299 is worth it compared to about $ 1238 for the
20D now (buydig.com) considering its improvements over the 20D?
Canon A520: Easiest way to lighten up dark shadows?31 Aug 2005 12:30 GMT2
I'm a new owner of a Canon A520. I like the camera, its features and I
especially like its small size. I have one complaint, the photos tend to be
slightly dark. It does not matter if I'm indoors or outdoors.  I've been
using Photoshop Elements 3 and can lighten up the shadows ...

20d protrait lense31 Aug 2005 11:06 GMT7
I know I've read some decent posts about lenses recently for the eos
20d camera so now I'll ask one.
If money is no object can you list what lenses in priority (first
being the best) of what you think will make a great portrait lense for

SLR and SLR like cameras31 Aug 2005 07:20 GMT9
I am a newcomer to photography.Just tell me the difference between a
SLR and SLR like camera. For example Canon EOS 350D is an (D)SLR and
Fuji S5500 is called an 'SLR like' camera..By single lens reflex I
suppose that what you see through the view finder is what you are going
