I'm looking to buy a digital camera.  From the reading I've done, I
want big optical zoom (digital I can do I my computer anyways).  I run
linux at home, so I wonder if there's anything proprietary about its
operation (downloading, image format, etc).  I want to use USB,
lens adapter tamron to canon d30001 Jul 2005 20:41 GMT2
I am looking for an adapter to couple a Tamron 500mm catadioptic lens
to a recently acquired Canon digital D300 camera. Auto focus capability

How to increase the zoom range of Nikon 540001 Jul 2005 19:58 GMT1
Hi Group,
I really like my Nikon 5400 especially its x4 optical zoom and its extra
wide and close capabilities. But, I find that it falls short when I need
to take a long shot particularly in low light.  I tried the Nikon
Pixmania delivery and customer support sucks!01 Jul 2005 18:44 GMT5
I ordered a camera online from Pixmania with 24h DHL Express delivery.
After 24 hours, the order was still with Pixmania.  When I called
customer support demanding an explanation I got an impolite answer that
I had not read the small print, which should say that there were
Looking for a replacement P&S digicam01 Jul 2005 18:03 GMT5
Late last year my much loved and used Casio QV-3500 gave up the ghost
and died on me.
I replaced it with a much nicer Canon 20d that is also getting a lot of
use. However there are times I don't want to/can't haul around the
What does Lossless really mean?01 Jul 2005 17:52 GMT15
I have lossless rotation for digital photos in PSP8. Does lossless
really mean lossless? I mean there has to be some loss in a jpeg when
you rotate it.

Nikon CP 7900  or Canon SD50001 Jul 2005 17:35 GMT1
I have a dillema wheter to choose Nicon 7900 or Canon SD500. I've read some
reviews of these models and I still can't decide. Perhaps somebody of You
uses these cameras and could write me something about them. I mean, among
other things, quality of printed photos and if problems ...

Embedding Text in GIF Files01 Jul 2005 16:36 GMT3
I would like to embed some notes inside a GIF file similar to the way
EXIF data is embedded in JPEG files.  Some time ago I read that this
could be done but the post didn't explain how.  When I try to add any
ascii characters to the file it stops working right.
Count down to zero?01 Jul 2005 16:29 GMT3
I came across this article and the plots took me by surprise, in this
form it looks like a clock ticking down the finally minutes of film
cameras life.

Since I've been out taking pics on _his_ turf, he's gotten quite used
to having his pic snapped.  Next stop, hopefully, macro...I'm getting
pretty damn close.  Anyway, here he is:

Retinar vs Kreuznach01 Jul 2005 11:10 GMT13
It seems that my first post didn't end up here so I am trying again.  I was
wonder what the differences between the two Kodak lenses were and was one
better than the other?  Thanks.

Free pic hosting sites??01 Jul 2005 03:38 GMT2
In the past I posted some photos to a site that later closed down and
send me (and everyone else I guess) an e-mail saying if we wanted the
pics back to pay them for them! I was new and thought the pics would
be there forever, so I did not keep any on this end. I was new to
Question: Direct Download to Flash Drive?01 Jul 2005 03:22 GMT3
Is it possible to download pictures from a Canon A75 directly to a flash
drive? My daughter is going to be traveling overseas and I wanted a way for
her to download pictures from her camera to a flash drive?
Is this possible without an OS?
