Yet another recommendation request07 Jul 2005 23:41 GMT6
In misc.consumers.frugal-living I saw the recent cross-posted thread
by the woman wanting a camera that uses AA batteries (plus other
things). Wow, I never thought to ask on the NG's when I purchased my
Canon A75 about a year ago. I checked Consumer Reports (useless) and
who in their right mind07 Jul 2005 23:02 GMT29

Film Scanner advise needed.07 Jul 2005 22:24 GMT3
After quickly discovering that the "Free CD" that comes with developed
prints contains very low rez scans and then being told that I can get Hi-Rez
300dpi scans for an extra $10, I am seriously thinking about a film scanner.
From what I could discover, the Minolta Dimage Dual IV ...
G3 bluring pictures07 Jul 2005 19:18 GMT1
My Canon G3 recently started producing blured pictures.  The camera is over
3 years old and never did this before.  I suspect that the autofocus is not
working properly.  I make it a habit to press half way down on the button
to prefocus before snapping the picture, but I still ...

Most of my SmartMedia cards have been used in/formatted
by my mp3 player and are no longer visible to my digital cameras.
Olympus D-510 Zoom and Fuji 2400Z.
I get a "!Card error" and the camera refuses to format.
Lens choice07 Jul 2005 16:04 GMT3
I have to choose between the Canon EF 100/2.8 MAKRO USM,
and the Canon EF-S 60/2.8 USM Macro.
It's for use on the eos 20D.
Is there anybody who have experience with both?
filter question for 20D07 Jul 2005 15:07 GMT5
I am getting a Canon 20D with the 17-85 IS lens and I want to get a good
quality circular polarizer. Hoya has been recommended for quality coated
filters.  I want a filter with a front thread so I can use a lens hood.
Hoya has its regular HMC circular polarizer and a thin version ...
Digital Camcorders, anyone?07 Jul 2005 14:59 GMT2
I've followed this group for some time, know about dpreview,
steve's-digicams, etc., and have decent background in film and digital
still photography. I'm an interested amateur, never was or will be
more.
Energizer AA batteries Lithium07 Jul 2005 10:01 GMT12
I saw the Energizer AA batteries Lithium batteries at the warehouse
store. Are they any good for camera and flash comparing to NiMH?
Sharpening artefacts and MTF of monitors?07 Jul 2005 09:20 GMT31
I'm trying to understand visible effects of artefacts of sharpening with
different viewing conditions.  Suppose I have a sharpening matrix such
that I can't see artefacts on monitor (with a very good CRT monitor,
VS P815).  However, when I blow pixels 200%, a careful examination
I LOVE my powershot s50 ! ! ! ! ! ! !07 Jul 2005 08:30 GMT5

I just finished taking some great shots during the fourth of July with
emphasis on sparklers.
