Does Olympus have their own capture software?13 Jul 2005 09:47 GMT11
I am trying to find whether Olympus makes their own capture software to
directly capture images from the camera to the PC through USB, without
saving to the CF card (like Canon's software for the G6 and their
SLRs).

[Article] Lost at Sea, Found in a Flash13 Jul 2005 07:30 GMT21
"A high-flying, student-assembled research balloon that appeared
doomed after crashing into the Pacific Ocean has ended up yielding
valuable astronomical data, thanks to hardy memory cards that survived
the plunge."
article on dSLR market13 Jul 2005 05:15 GMT51
This article from Bloomberg.com has some interesting things to say
about the dSLR market.  Among the things of interest ...
* Canon and Nikon have about 80% of the market, leaving Oly, Pentax and
Minolta (sorry if I forgot someone else) to scramble for the remaining
Flash for Canon g613 Jul 2005 04:11 GMT2
I have a Philips P536 TCLS flash. Will it work with Canon G6, which I
going to buy? Its foot has only one metal projection, while Canon's
flashes have more.

What's the best book???13 Jul 2005 02:39 GMT5
I know that there is probably no one best book on digital photography,
but... Are there some well acclaimed books that this august body
recommends. This would be some thing that works for the beginner as well
as covering more advanced topics. Photos in the book for comparisons

What are some practical tips to achieve the most shallow depth of field
for compact digital closeups? Please add to or correct the list I came
up with. Assume there are no manual adjustments available besides zoom
and macro mode.
Kodak DC240 good to the last drop12 Jul 2005 23:02 GMT3
Our trusty Olympus Stylus was left on the roof of our car and slide off
when we turned on to the main highway, but it still works just fine.
The trip from a desktop to the floor left our Kodak DC240 a bit addled.
Everything appears to work, images in the viewfinder, autofocus, flash ...
Kodak DX 740 - any views??12 Jul 2005 22:58 GMT2

What is the right technique ?12 Jul 2005 22:41 GMT10
I am a newbie to digital photo. I have a very common problem with a lot
of pictures, where I would take a snapshot either inside with poor
lighting, or outdoor on a sunny day, and end up with person's face
darkened agaings a bright background.
