How do I know if the image stabilizer is working? (other then taking

Has anyone experience with the telezoom lense Sigma 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 EX OS
APO together with a Nikon D-70? It is much cheaper than the Nikon 80-400 VR

I want to upgrade my Nikon View v 6.2.008 for Mac software to the latest
version, v 6.2.6. V 6.2.6 is downloadable via Mac Version Tacker but is
an upgrader from v 6.2.5. I can't find Nikon View for Mac v 6.2.5

What are some practical tips to achieve the most shallow depth of field
for compact digital closeups? Please add to or correct the list I came
up with. Assume there are no manual adjustments available besides zoom
and macro mode.

Our trusty Olympus Stylus was left on the roof of our car and slide off
when we turned on to the main highway, but it still works just fine.
The trip from a desktop to the floor left our Kodak DC240 a bit addled.
Everything appears to work, images in the viewfinder, autofocus, flash ...

I want zoom, and reasonable quality photos at a moderate price?? Does it
fit?

I am a newbie to digital photo. I have a very common problem with a lot
of pictures, where I would take a snapshot either inside with poor
lighting, or outdoor on a sunny day, and end up with person's face
