Why do people take pictures?  Was Battery life.21 Jul 2005 18:15 GMT53
Wasn't too long ago that taking a picture and having it developed
and printed cost over a buck in today's dollars.  We'd take pictures
of our wedding, little Johnny's first steps, maybe a birthday party or two.
Today, we have the technology to put 4,700 1meg JPG pix on a DVD
2257 Boobs21 Jul 2005 17:27 GMT5
Digital photographers have a new worry. Federal law 2257 went into
effect June 22. Some web sites are pulling even tasteful art nudes for
fear of being labeled as distributors of banned material. The boobs in
the censorship department at eBay went so far as to pull at least two

The first thing on my list after I bought a digi-cam was
an extra memory card.
The second thing was "rechargeable batterys".

Printing photos on checks?21 Jul 2005 11:26 GMT24
Is there any place that prints custom checks for photographers? I'm
tired of the usual selections from banks and check printers. I'd like
to see my own photos on my checks. I statred asking about this more
than 20 years ago, but they always wanted an arm and half a leg to do

rechargeable battery & s1is21 Jul 2005 04:12 GMT7
I recently purchased a canon s1 IS camera.  I have 2 sets of NiMH batteries
(8 total).  My question is:  they are 2100 mAh, is this o.k. to use in this
camera, or will it damage it.  They are AA size (which is what the camera
takes).  If anyone could let me know, I'd appreciate it.
Olympus Verve comments?21 Jul 2005 02:04 GMT8
I'm about to purchase my first digital camera. I've been into
photography off and on for over 40 years, starting with a Brownie box
camera, working my way up through an Agfa RF, a Pentax, and finally a
Nikon EL2, the last of the big, heavy, old fashioned 35mm SLR's from
Questions21 Jul 2005 01:46 GMT6
How many people make a living in this NG  from photography? What do you
specialise in?
To me it would be something that I would love doing especially nature type
photos but I just wonder if it would be viable to just specialise in nature
CR2 convert to JPG software?21 Jul 2005 01:02 GMT5
Is there any software that will convert a batch of CR2 files to JPG (I am
happy with the the camera settings used when the shots were taken).
The Canon ZoomBrowserEX software allows you to edit and then save images,
but it is slow and very manual - I just want to convert a bunch ...
