How do you determine which size filter to get? I'm buying a Canon Rebel XT with a Canon 18-55mm EF-S Lens. What size would I need? And is it better to buy the expensive kind or just get whatever? Thanks.

Which brand(s) has the best overall cameras in quality? ie. if I go to the shop and I buy that brand I should get one of the best without going too deep into it. (A bit like Sony for a stereo)
