| Digital ISOs faster? | 19 May 2005 08:42 GMT | 66 |
One of the main reasons holding me back from retiring my F3 system and buying into a digital SLR was that I felt digital was inherently slower, and I like to use long lenses hand-held. Then I read this on the Ken Rockwell site: "...digital's higher ISOs let

| Sigma lens repair in UK | 19 May 2005 06:06 GMT | 2 |
I have a Sigma 50-500mm EX lens which has served me well. It's obviously not my main lens, but I do like to use it quite often for candids and wildlife shots and I have had some nice results. However, the mechanism that locks the lens down when it is fully retracted is broken - it ...

| A second camera | 19 May 2005 04:46 GMT | 3 |
As an owner of a 20D, 300D, plus an expensive and bulky stable of glass, I decided to buy a walk-around camera. The Panasonic Lumix FZ5 was my choice and, for once, it was a good choice. Here is an example taken at full zoom: http://home.comcast ...

| Installing Adobe Acrobat | 19 May 2005 04:01 GMT | 10 |
I run Acrobat 6.0 at work. When I installed it, it showed up in the Word and Excel toolbars. I didn't care for this; it has caused some problems. At home, I just received an Acrobat slide show in pdf. I run Acrobat 4.0 at home, and when I went to open the slide show, I was told ...

| Canon 20D Firmware Upgrade V2.0.0 | 19 May 2005 03:05 GMT | 11 |
Has anyone upgraded from version 1.1.0 to 2.0.0? Any problems? Also , is it worthwhile unless you plan to use the wireless file transmitter WFT-E1? Or are there 'hidden' improvements? http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/eos20d/eos20d_firmware-e.html

| Why doesn't Apple start making operating systems for x86 PC's? | 19 May 2005 02:49 GMT | 803 |
XP is pure insecure sh.t and Longhorn is looking like Service Pack 3 with a crappy UI. So why doesn't Apple exploit the buzz around their kickass OS Tiger and get something going for the dissatisfied mainstream PC user?

| This is how a real gentleman should treat a lady | 19 May 2005 00:53 GMT | 4 |
I must say, the quality of discourse in this country has taken a sharp plunge of late, not only among the ruffians and ne'er-do-wells from whom one expects coarse speech, but among gentlemen of letters and esteem. I have, with my own ears, several times in the past week, heard

| Buydig / Beech Camera | 18 May 2005 22:59 GMT | 152 |
I'm told that Buydig is a branch of Beech Camera. Are these reputable vendors for printers and cameras? They have good prices on the HP 1320 that I was considering. Any reason to avoid them? Thanks

| Which cheapo wide-tele is decent? | 18 May 2005 20:48 GMT | 4 |
Is it the Tamron 28-300? Is there a better with a little less tele? It's for a friend who may not like me now that I got him addicted to L glass. I told him to get the 17-40 but he's complaining about the price for such a short range and the lack of tele. He tried to use the ...

| begining photography on a EOS 20d | 18 May 2005 18:39 GMT | 7 |
I know no matter how much I try to describe myself before asking this question, I'll omit something relevant so I won't bother. Anyway is it stupid to consider buying a Canon Eos 20d (forget about the cost for this discussion) and learning photography while using it? Of

I just received and installed PS CS2. I had used 5.0 previously with no problem. Now while I am working in CS2 my computer will crash with no warning. The screen on the monitor goes black and the computer reboots. Starts all over. I get a box when the restart is complete from ...

| 3ft min foc long zoom suggestions ? | 18 May 2005 18:13 GMT | 3 |
Never had this problem with 35mm, Tamron 80-210 was 3ft, photographing objects from 8cm to 30cm wide no problem, but now cannot find a decent lens for digital slr Canon 20D that enables this. They are all 1.2m or more. Sigma macro 105mm ok but requires leaning over table for close
