Where do you draw the line?25 May 2005 19:50 GMT53
With software such as the 800 lb gorilla Photoshop, the still quite
viable Paint Shop Pro, and the noble The Gimp, we can make the kind of
"post-production" modifications to our photos the old masters could only
dream about in the darkroom. We can even make total remixes, mashups ...
Jewel shoot25 May 2005 18:20 GMT5
I need to photograph a variety of jewelry pieces on white background.
(rings, brooches, necklaces and earrings, both precious stones and pearls)
There are about 40 - 50 shots that I need to do in one day, so I need some
tried and tested tips on fixing things into position quickly ...

I am looking for an ultra-portable camera with a very low shutter lag
to take pictures of children.  At least 4MP and not too expensive
(<$300).  Could you recommend anything?
Thank you!
Upgrading to a DSLR question.25 May 2005 16:13 GMT35
I am upgrading from an Oly C4040. and I am trying to decide between the
Evolt, EOS 300D, EOS 350D, and the EOS 20D. Mainly between the Evolt and the
EOS 350D. I know the Oly has the CCD and the Canon has the CMOS. Back When I
bought the C4040 I read that the CCD was the way to go. I ...
Taking photos of lightning25 May 2005 14:33 GMT6
We had a very spectacular storm here the other day, and alot of great photos
have been printed in the media showing forked lightning arcing down over the
city skyscrapers. What settings would be best for taking these sorts of
photos?
Light Meter Prices25 May 2005 14:04 GMT7
Why does the price of light meters vary so much?
Do the more expensive ones really do much more (that you actually need it to
do) that the mid to low priced ones?

I am able to see jupiters moon with my x7 binoculars, but why
can't I see them when I take a picture of Jupiter with my
Olympus 2020 zoom. I used the full zoom (x3) plus the digital
zoom (2.5), but nothing, i.e. only jupiter ???
Web cam or Surveilance cam?25 May 2005 13:57 GMT9
I'd like to place a digital camera in various areas of the home, (just
move it around) and get this view on my computer screen- would this
require a web cam or more like a surveilance cam??  If you can get the
cam's view (pic) on your pc, how is this set up then?   Thanks much..

probs with Fuji Finepix 602z25 May 2005 11:56 GMT3
I am asking this on behalf of my son who would rather push the camera into a
drawer and buy a new one, rather than try and get it repaired.
Finepix 602z
Simple problem. When it is turned, on the lens extends and then the camera

Naming Files25 May 2005 03:41 GMT36
Would anyone like to share their system for naming files? I've just bought
my first digital camera and would like to start with a good system rather
than have to go back and rename thousands of photos down the road. For what
it's worth, I'll be using ZoomBrowser. Thanks.
