Alternative flash for Minolta Z328 Apr 2005 19:23 GMT3
Horrified by the price of additional flash units (2500, 3600, 5600) from
Minolta I'm looking for third party flash units.
Anyone know of any available in the UK?

About to buy, so need comparisons/recommendations/experiences - Canon SD300, A95, S60, Sony DSC P20028 Apr 2005 17:58 GMT5
My budget is about $600Cdn, and I want a small-medium size non-SLR. Based on
specs and reviews I've narrowed it down to 4 choices that seem to break into
2 comparable pairs :
Compact = Canon A95 & S60
Calibrating monitor and printer28 Apr 2005 17:41 GMT3
Aiming for consistent and predictable color reproduction, I have
calibrated both my monitor (using Spyder2PRO Studio) and my printer
(using PrintFix, made by the same company). PrintFIX calibrates using
PhotoShop (CS). The results are very good. Prints made directly from
Slide Scanning - Boston Area28 Apr 2005 16:58 GMT4
I am looking to have 35mm slides scanned by a lab, and was wondering if
anyone could recommend a place in the Boston area?  I've looked at a
few web sites, though have found only one that does it and the price
per slide is quite expensive (2+ dollars).
Compact Flash 8mb Speed28 Apr 2005 16:27 GMT5
Thanks for your help.
If I shoot raw with a 350D, I will get around a 8mb file size. Speed is
not too importand, so I'd like to use a regular CF card.
Would anyone know how long the Canon 350D will take to write a raw file
Analog Lens F stop low light for digital28 Apr 2005 15:45 GMT7
If you put a 400mm analog lens on a digital SLR camera, you will have
around a 600mm lens.
Our 400mm lens is F 4.5-.6.7 which is pretty low light.
Could anyone comment on just how restricted the lens would be shooting
Fast and heavy or poor and light28 Apr 2005 13:10 GMT38
Most fast variable focal length lens with fixed aperture are heavy and
expensive. The lighter variable focal length aren't great performers
but are cheap. Why is this so? I understand that good performance means
glass, special elements and metallic body but in the future can we
CASIO EXILIM extra photos =(28 Apr 2005 13:06 GMT1
Hello, I have a casio Z4 that I bought last year and even though I'm
considering a new one, I would like to continue using my Casio as a pocket
camera.  There's only one thing that really bugs me...whenever I take a
picture of anything, the camera automatically saves the picture ...
Scanning Software28 Apr 2005 11:46 GMT6
I have an Epson 3200 flatbed scanner: I have tried [1]Silverfast SE -
which came with the scanner[2] a demo version of Silverfast A1 and
[3]demo Vuescan software but don't like any of these of these
programmes.
Panasonic FZ5 & FZ20 moon pictures28 Apr 2005 09:45 GMT17
Just for fun, unretouched moon pictures taken (at different times) with
the FZ5 and FZ20 cameras, hand-held, but supported on a window-ledge.
Spot metering with a tweak downwards of the exposure.

Pentax *ist Date??28 Apr 2005 09:45 GMT6
Is this a Pentax *ist DS? It says Pentax *ist _Date_ Body in the
advert, but it looks like a DS to me. Could you please confirm this for
me as I'm about to buy it when it is the *ist DS.

Does anyone have Canon 350D and no-EF lenses ??28 Apr 2005 09:11 GMT2
Can anybody check if 350D / XT have correct light metering
with e.g. M42 lenses (like 300D had) ???
There is one user (so far) who claims that 350D doesn't
work with M42 lenses !!
TIFF destroyed (EXIF, ACDSee)28 Apr 2005 07:49 GMT4
Would be great if you could help me:
I used the Nikon COOLSCAN 4000 ED to scan my negatives.
Now if I change any of the EXIF data using ACDSee 7.0 (Build 102)
the TIFF files are beeing destroyed and are almost not visible anymore.
EOS digital lens questions28 Apr 2005 07:45 GMT7
I currently use an old Minolta XG-2 and so don't have any investment
in AF lenses that would sway me to go for the Digital Dynax.
That said, I have some expensive specialty lenses that are M42 and
medium format (Pentacon and Kiev) lenses with MD/MC adapters.
