Canon 1Dmk2 firmware 1.2.l - bug?06 Apr 2005 02:44 GMT1
After having upgraded my Canon 1D Mark II to the 1.2.l
firmware, second curtain sync does not work on any flashgun.
Yes, the proper menu setting has been made. A friend of mine
has a Canon 1D Mark II also with the 1.2.l firmware - that
B&H appreciation06 Apr 2005 02:36 GMT3
So, this morning I decided, after a lot of reading and proscratination,
to purchase an Oly e-300. My side business requires a bit more ISO and
quicker shutter release than my 5060 and so I called B&H, which was
offering what looked like a good price.  I'd never purchased from ...

Canon S1 microdrive takes forever to transfer images06 Apr 2005 00:44 GMT1
New Canon S1 IS, 4GB micro drive. New HP Presario (I think): 2.x GHz (it's my
brother's; I forget the specs); Win XP Pro; LOTS of RAM.
When plugged into the USB port on the computer, the copy dialog box says it
will take 1.5 hours to transfer the 4 GB of images to the computer.

Why do we let people be born into lives of pain merely for the sake of

dynamic range of digital image sensors05 Apr 2005 23:16 GMT10
Hello Ng,
My questions regards the dynamic range of digital image sensors (CCDs
and CMOS). I understand that this is mostly limited by the size of the
capacitor / well that holds the electrons and the amount of electronic

Chromat Aberration Correction???05 Apr 2005 22:03 GMT17
I downloaded a trial version of JSC Paint Shop Pro 9.
It includes a tool for CA.  I was expecting a routine
to realign the various colors but it appears instead to
merely be some sort of color filter.
Kodak DX7440: Exposure and Contrast issues05 Apr 2005 20:41 GMT3
I just purchased a Kodak DX7440 camera (my first digital) and have been
putting it through it's paces to make sure I want to keep it (I have
about 4 more days if I want to return it...).  So far my experience
with the camera has been so-so.  It seems that a lot of my indoor shots
Fuji FinePix S305 Apr 2005 19:19 GMT31
Chasseur D'Images (March 03, No. 271) has an in depth article on the
Fujifilm FinePix S3.  The tests they do are far beyond what I can report
here.  12 pages of images, tests, descriptions, graphs, etc.

Are there any dangers of the SD card being
damaged when using the photo processing machines
common to Drugstores etc these days?
Rather like having your VCR being compromised
Canon S500 as Webcam?05 Apr 2005 15:18 GMT2
I am looking to buy a small digital camera for travel and the recent
price drop on S500 caught my eye. Looking at the spec, it seems that
S500 can be operated from a PC through USB, and that the PC can disply
live viewfinder video. My question is, can the live video somehow be
