New pictures, comments welcome. Flowers & city backdrop. It was actually quite an ordeal to set up. I think it was successful. <http://www.edgehill.net/1/?SC=go.php&DIR=California/Bay-Area/San-Francisco/our-g arden/more/2005-03-02-trillium-maple>

| Digital camera complaints? | 04 Mar 2005 06:46 GMT | 13 |
I'm looking for good examples of things gone wrong in digital camera models -- that is, how the software or hardware is designed. Things that make you say, "Just what were they thinking!?" I'm an enthusiast, but we all have gripes, and I need one or two good

| Fighting Canon i9900 printer | 04 Mar 2005 03:48 GMT | 25 |
Been fighting with trying to get decent color balance with this thing. I've been using an 8200 for years using "auto" with no corrections in the driver and using the "printer color management" setting in PS, it has always looked just like the screen. Nice skin tones from in camera ...

| I need a new camera for work. What can you reccommend? | 03 Mar 2005 23:36 GMT | 12 |
I work for a small newspaper. Each of our reporters use their own cameras. We are attempting to phase out use of film cameras. I need to purchase some good digital cameras for indoor sports photography and poor lighting situations. It would be best to get a non-dslr, as these ...

| Kodak 6490 or Fujj s5100 | 03 Mar 2005 22:50 GMT | 3 |
I have been looking long and hard for the best digital camera to suit my needs. I have narrowed it down to these two models. I have also considered Olympus C-765, Nikkon Coolpix 4800, and Konica Minolta Z2. I have both the Fuji and the kodak in my posession but one will need to

| Question: Best Digital Camcorder for ~$500 | 03 Mar 2005 22:35 GMT | 2 |
Hi, all. I'm not sure if this group concerns still cameras exclusively, but I'm in the market for a decent digital camcorder for between $500 and $600. My normal first step would be to hit eopinions.com. But there are so

| HTML slideshow using only a directory of jpg's | 03 Mar 2005 22:35 GMT | 3 |
I want to create a slideshow on a website from a directory of jpg's. I want it to be dynamically updating, so if I add another picture to the folder, it shows it the next time the webpage is refreshed. Another requirement is that it shows the pictures in order based on date/time

| Service manuals for digicams? | 03 Mar 2005 21:29 GMT | 1 |
Do any of the manufacturers sell service manuals to the public? I bought a service manual for my Olympus C-2020Z a few years ago. I recently called Olympus parts to ask about the availability of a manual for the D-40, and was told that they don't sell service manuals, period.

| Why no discussion about Pentax cameras? | 03 Mar 2005 19:43 GMT | 49 |
I've been reading this group for awhile trying to make up my mind. I almost went for the Canon A-95 a couple of weeks ago, but decided to be patient. The one thing I've noticed is there a very few post about the Pentax camera's. These were some very good traditional camera's ...

| Canon 18-55 "Kit" lens | 03 Mar 2005 19:37 GMT | 18 |
Yesterday was La Jolla Classic cars-in-the-park-at-the-cove day. My first genuine "assignment". I started with the "Kit" lens, changed to the 10-22 EF-S, and faded out _via_ the Nikon CP8700. To this point I have processed two raw images from the Canon 20D and Kit

| Newbie: file size after editing . | 03 Mar 2005 19:30 GMT | 5 |
I notice this with the files I work on. After saving, the file gets much bigger, although it has the same format. So I opened a .jpg file of 677k size, did nothing to it and immediately "save as" in . jpg with a different name. My Photoimpact

| Sigma 24-70mm f3.5-5.6 | 03 Mar 2005 17:41 GMT | 4 |
Has anyone tried the above lens? I'm looking for a slightly longer lens for my Pentax *istD. I was tempted by the 18-125 Sigma, but it is reputed to be soft in the areas I'd likely use it most (f8 and up). I don't need soft for the things I want to do, and a 24 to 70 will cover
