D70 books08 Mar 2005 05:56 GMT2
What's a good book for me to eplore the potential of my new D70? The manual
that came with it is a little brief. Thanks.
Shooting with two 20D bodies - duplicate filenumber problem08 Mar 2005 05:35 GMT17
I'm working with two Canon 20D cameras in my studio. I've found problems
with file numbering on jobs where I use both cameras -- I'm ending up with
the same filename coming out of both cameras, which is obviously a problem
when downloading various CFs to a computer. Does anyone ...
Nikon D70: Histogram08 Mar 2005 05:01 GMT8
I just bought a D70.  I have read the manual but I need more info,
unless I missed something.
Until I got this camera I didn't know what a histogram was.  But from
following comments on this NG, I get the impression that it should
city streets/nightime08 Mar 2005 04:46 GMT10
I want to get some good shots of city streets at night using an
OlympusC5000z.
I've got the streets, regular nightimes and the camera however it seems that
whatever settings I use the image is getting flooded with yellow from the
Scan resolution08 Mar 2005 03:07 GMT8
I have a cheapish AstraSlim scanner, a couple of years old. I normally
set its resolution to 300 or 400. But its range goes right up to 9600.
I'm curious as to when such high resolutions might be used please?
What max settings do other use?
Nikon Coolpix 520008 Mar 2005 03:04 GMT3
I was thinking about purchasing this camera.  Does anyone have any opinions
on it, is it good/ bad?  The guy in the camera store gave it a good rating,
but he's selling them so...  I had it narrowed down to this one and the new
5600, but the 5200 seems to have more of the features ...
Scanning 35mm slides?08 Mar 2005 03:01 GMT13
Is there any way I can scan old 35mm slides successfully with my
standard (AstraSlim) scanner on my XP PC please? Efforts so far with
combinations of high resolution, varied brightess/contrast, white
sheet behind, etc, have all produced muddy blurs.
Combined Camara & Computer Bag Suggestions07 Mar 2005 22:36 GMT4
I am trying to find a satchel style bag that will carry my digital slr
camera (with two lenses and assorted other accessories) and will also
carry my normal size (15" screen) laptop.  I don't want a backpack,
unless that is the only way to go.  I would rather have a leather or
Why did pix go out of focus?!?07 Mar 2005 21:33 GMT10
Went to Africa for 3 weeks last Sept. with a new Panasonic Lumix FZ-10.
Had 2 Panasonic SD cards - a 256MB and a 512MB - and naturally filled
them up w/ 1600x1200 pix.  Came home and copied to my iMac and burned
backup DVDs.  (After all, trip of a lifetime, right?)  The Lumix can ...
Problem with ACDSee 7.  Edited pic jumps to the end of the thumbnails in ACDSee after exiting Photoshop..07 Mar 2005 21:08 GMT1
I edit a lot of JPGs.  I like to go down through the thumbnails in
ACDSee (just started using version 7) until I see one that needs
editing. When I find one I want to edit I select the thumbnail and
drag and drop it into Photoshop.

Is there a fiddle proof digital camera available?07 Mar 2005 20:42 GMT14
My elderly parents have just returned from a holiday on which they took one of
my Olympus digital cameras along with a film camera.
I gave them specific instructions not to touch the settings, just turn it on and
take the photos.  When the card is full, remove it and put another one ...
kodak LS44307 Mar 2005 20:33 GMT1
After having problems with my Kodak LS443 reading my Lexar memory card,
I tried to upgrade my firmware version. Every time I attempt to copy the
file to my camera from my computer via both docking station or usb
cable, it says the memory needs to be formatted, which I have done ...
Canon 550EX flash frustration07 Mar 2005 19:25 GMT1
Just when I thought I had the 550ex flash sorted it goes and delivers a
heap of grossly underexposed shots.
I have now looked into the relationship between the GN number anf the
aperture (f-stop) with relation to distance to the subject and now I am even
cropping photos07 Mar 2005 18:33 GMT8
Is it better to enlarge a photo from a negative then scan it,
crop then print out, rather than scan a 4x6 then enlarge & crop
then print it?  Should I let the lab crop?
I am concerned with grain in photos enlarged from ISO400&800 negatives.
