Testing a new lens for quality26 Feb 2005 15:18 GMT6
Tomorrow, I'll get two new lenses - A Sigma 24-135mm f/2.8-4.5 and a
Sigma 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DL Super Macro. Now, I've heard several
problems with Sigma's quality control and people returning their bad
*copies*. So how do I check the lens for quality issues other than
CF card theft on CSI last night 26 Feb 2005 14:52 GMT34
This week's CSI included a segment where one of the CSIs stepped away from
her camera which was inside the crime tape perimeter and later found her
crime scene photos being broadcast on the local TV.  Some 'enterprising'
paparazzi had crossed the line, swapped his blank 32M CF ...
cameras offer wireless xfer yet?26 Feb 2005 14:49 GMT5
just wondering if we were at the point yet where cameras had something like
802.11g to transfer photos wirelessly, or if
that just chews up too much power to run off a battery still (notebooks do
it but they tend to have much larger batteries).
Advice request for a digital camera...26 Feb 2005 14:32 GMT5
I've been reading dpreview, dcresource, etc. and am trying to come to a
conclusion on a camera.  I've pretty much decided that the minimumn
requirements are a 3.0mp with at least a 3x optical zoom is the
baseline.  The camera would be used for general picture taking,

I ordered a few items from Adorama on Friday (Nikon D-70, a lens, etc)

call them. Is this an attempt to sell me a bunhc of additional crap? If
so, I'll cancel the order and go elsewhere. I dealt with them a ...
Can Digital SLR replace my methods ?26 Feb 2005 13:36 GMT27
If I describe my current non average photography methods in detail enough to
provide a structure on which to work, could someone please advise me on
whether or not a digital SLR setup could take over this role, perhaps by
knowing that their particular camera /flashgun setup would ...

I'm in the market for a new A3 printer for my photographic work and I would
value your opinions on which one to go for.
I am using Windows XP and Photoshop CS. So far I have looked at the Epson

Holding roll of Photo paper for use in bubble jet26 Feb 2005 10:57 GMT2
I'm finding it difficult to purchase any more Panoramic Photo Paper for use
in by Canon Bubble Jet printer.  I see that its possible to buy the paper on

wondering if anyone has had any experience in just ...
Beauties from the sky, which digital camera to capture them?26 Feb 2005 10:47 GMT6
I am looking for a digital camera to capture the beauties from the sky,
I mean stars and other wonderful celestial objects like nebulas and galaxies

Fujifilm FinePix S7000 Opinions?26 Feb 2005 09:50 GMT11
I need a good digital camera for a high altitude hike. Hauling my Canon
1V with a couple of lenses was just too much on the last trip so I want
to go relatively light but still demand high photo quality and versitility.
So, I want a:
Which compact flash card?26 Feb 2005 08:32 GMT3
I own a Nikon CP5700.  I currently use a 256m card from sandisk.  I am
thinking of a 1gb card from Lexar rated at either 40X or 80X.  Will I gain
anything in transfer speed with either of these cards.  The 5700 is not set
up for the accelerated technology.  I am not sure what ...

I would like to get a digital projector to play photo slideshows.  I
have created these slideshows with a DVD slideshow software that gives
me lots of cool transitions and music.  I can play the DVD on my PC on
Windows media player full screen.

I'm off to the US in late Summer to visit the Grand Canyon and Yosemite
National Park. I'm looking to take a camera that is capable of taking
semi-decent shots of the landscapes I'm going to encounter. Any ideas on a
not too expensive (?500 UKP max), easy to use digital camera ...
