1gb, 80X Compact Flash card... What's "80X" mean?03 Feb 2005 01:43 GMT8
Does this mean that this particular Compact Flash card is 80 times faster for
transfers?  What is the base line for X and who set it.  Are CF cards that
don't promote their "X" rating really 1/80th as fast?
Know Anything about New Pentax DSLR?03 Feb 2005 01:42 GMT14
Has anyone heard if Pentax will introduce a DSLR with a higher resolution
than the *istD?  That one is only 6.1MP.  With Nikon, Canon, Fuji, etc. all
introducing 10MP+ bodies I'm hoping Pentax will catch-up soon.  I'd switch
to Nikon, but that would mean spending an incredible ...

I'm generally happy with, but somehow the icon
that indicates "Force Flash" is no longer in
the group of flash options I can select.  All

Definition of "pixel transition ratio"02 Feb 2005 18:24 GMT1
What is a "pixel transition ratio"?  I'm reading the camera reviews in the
Jan 2005 issue of PC Magazine and they seem to be giving it considerable
weight.

Nikon Coolscan V ED JPG Compression Quality / or TIFF02 Feb 2005 18:02 GMT12
I recently acquired this scanner to digitize my 35mm and APS collection
of negatives.  At 4000dpi with JPG compression set to highest quality
my files were averaging 38MB per neg.  I then read on some NGs that the
best format was TIFF since it is lossless.  While I agree with that

I recently got a photo printer and a box of 125 sheets high gloss Kodak
Premium Picture Paper (4X6) as a gift.
When we need to purchase more paper (same exact kind), what should I expect
to pay at some discount place (or other suggestion)? I figure then I
Is there a fix for my Coolpix 950 casing02 Feb 2005 16:09 GMT4
I have a six year old Nikon Coolpix 950 that works great for my needs.
But I dropped it on its end and broke a teensy bit of plastic that
catches the lock on the bottom of the battery case.  If I hold the
battery case covering tightly closed, the batteries get pressed in, and
