Video quality of Canon SD300?04 Feb 2005 16:59 GMT3
Along with many other things about the SD300, I was impressed to see
640x480 video with 30 fps and (especially on a Canon) unlimited clip
duration.  Does anyone have much experience with the video capture
feature of this camera who could give me an idea of how well it performs ...
Problems getting close ups with Kodak CX730004 Feb 2005 16:25 GMT9
I know this is an entry level camera with no manual focus/exposure, but
I wonder if anyone has any tips as to how I might achieve a good close
up.
I am taking pictures for eBay and when I get close to an item to take a

Am contemplating buying a digital camera within next few weeks.  Has

Looking for help in choosing a new printer04 Feb 2005 15:35 GMT3
I'm currently using an HP 2210 "all in one" inkjet printer and have
been fairly happy with the photographic results.
Since buying a Nikon D70 camera I am looking to upgrade the printer.
I have heard good things about Epson printers - particularly the R300.

Have trouble deciding between the nikon 5400 and Fuji E550.  The Nikon is
$260, Fuji $320.  Will mostly use for travel photography.
Thanks

Canon A85 / Canon A52004 Feb 2005 13:11 GMT2
I was literally going to by a Canon A85 yesterday when I saw that the
A85's replacement the A520 is coming out next month.  The new camera is
smaller, lighter and more importantly has a better lens.  The telephoto
extends 35-140mm in 35mm equivalent.   Is the A85 going to be
How Can Tiff Converted From RAW be so large?04 Feb 2005 12:26 GMT15
Recently I began experimenting with RAW images instead of the usual .jpeg
format as my primary means of recording digital images. I like the
flexibility and control of RAW but as most of you know they must be
converted to something else to be used. I'm used to 5 or 6 meg size .jpegs ...
Shutter lag04 Feb 2005 12:07 GMT26
I was in India a couple of months ago.  We were driving down the highway
when some cow/bull/steer came running across the road in front of us and
knocked an oncoming Indian couple off a motorcycle right in front of us.  I
grabbed my Sony DSC-F828 to quickly snap a photo but ...
Re: canon a95 and dark images04 Feb 2005 11:35 GMT4
My a95 is really giving me "dark" nightmares now. When i m on
auto mode, with default settings, i really get dark images. I reset my
camera, but that wouldnt help. Also tried charging my batteries .. i
thought that maybe that would cause a weak flash.. but that aint solved
Aperture priority when shooting Basketball???04 Feb 2005 10:09 GMT19
I simply do not understand the use of aperture priority when
shooting Basketball. In the past, shooting film, I have always
shot in manual and have gotten good, consistent results. What is
it about the lighting that changes which makes one use aperture
Printer: Epson PictureMate vs Canon Elphy CP-40004 Feb 2005 08:30 GMT3
I'm new in this group and I have a newby question. Which printer
choose and why? Epson is a ink jet printer, Canon uses dye sublimation
technology. Canon is much smaller and seems to have more options -
allows to print 10x20 cm, on stickers, postcards etc. The basic price
Maybe changing my mind in Nikon vs Canon04 Feb 2005 07:48 GMT10
I have been planing in the next month get a D70 to use with several
book projects.  I have no existing investment in any Nikon lenses
which will work with the D70 and would have been getting a couple of
additional AF lenses beyond the kit lens.  But the body has been a
large 20D pictures04 Feb 2005 05:43 GMT4
I have seen some large (possibly full sized) images linked in this
group but cannot easily search for the big ones. Any links to full
sized photos from the 20D especially unedited (not sharpened etc.)
Thanks all.
Canon S100 USB Problem04 Feb 2005 04:01 GMT2
I'm having trouble with my Canon S100 and Remote Capture. If I plug in my
S110 to the USB port and turn it on in the playback mode, XP sees and works
good. But if I turn it on in the camera mode, XP doesn't even see it as a
device and remote capture can't find it.
EYE-ONE DISPLAY 204 Feb 2005 03:09 GMT5
Anyone using the Eye-One Display 2?
I was toying with the idea but I'm not sure how good it is. I run a Pentium
IV, 3.20 Mhz, with 1 gig of ram, WindowsXp Home. Monitor is a Viewsonic 19''
