Only a Jain would link themselves to the sacra word of Buddha, that is so typical.
Opinions on Vosonic storage drives?13 Feb 2005 08:46 GMT8
I am looking for a good solution for storing my photos on a trip where
I can't take a laptop with me. Like everyone else, I'd like the Epson
P2000. Like most other people, I can't afford it, so I'm looking at the
alternatives. One possibility seems to be this:
Sepia plug-in for IrfanView?13 Feb 2005 07:47 GMT2
I've heard that there's a free sepia plug-in available for IrfanView, but I
haven't been able to find it with an Internet search.  Can someone please
direct me to a download.  If not an IrfanView plug-in, then a Photoshop
filter please.

I've had 3 Milolta cameras over the past 35 years so they've got a good track
record.  I'm thinking about the A2 or A200.
(1) Will the external flash that I'm using on my Maxxum work on either of
these.  The hot shoe (in online photographs) appears to have the contacts in

Repair or replacement of battery door on Canon PowerShot A80 12 Feb 2005 23:06 GMT2
A small piece of plastic on battery door of my colleague's Canon PowerShot
A80 is broken and it does not close tightly.  I volunteered to figure out
cost of replacing the battery door.  I don't have the serial number with me
right now to contact Canon USA email support.

Comments on The London Map please - digital panoramic photography site12 Feb 2005 20:37 GMT13
I have spent the last year shooting The London map
(<http://www.the-london-map.co.uk). It has over 100 panoramic shots of
London, England, linked to an interactive map. I would appreciate
comments / suggestions on where to go from here, or what people think
Reason for Lumix DMC-FZ5/FZ4 ...12 Feb 2005 19:22 GMT7
I just saw the announcement on dpreview and some technical data.
Personally i think that these models look like the FZ15 and FZ20.
Same rendering engine (venus II), same resolution, no improvement
in sensitivity, almost identical controls.
Mac vs. pc for photo work12 Feb 2005 19:08 GMT101
I'm an old pc person but tempted by the new mac stuff. I just looked at
Picasa and was impressed. On the other hand, I keep hearing how wonderful
the Mac osX is on media stuff, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Homebrew LCD protector?12 Feb 2005 18:47 GMT9
I can't find a ready-made snap-on LCD protector for my camera.
Can I use some type of inexpensive plastic film made for another
purpose? Something that can peel off without leaving a residue.
Preferably not some overpriced thing sold in camera stores.
FRONTIER 370 - OVERSCANNING?12 Feb 2005 18:05 GMT10
I have a problem.  I use the local Fuji shop for getting prints done
from my digital images, which I have sized and adjusted pixels so the
image is exactly what I want printed, e.g. 8 x 12 image at 300 dpi - the
Frontier standard.
