New technologies can create incredible pictures, but do they
compromise the art of photography?

determining native ISO of sensor14 Feb 2005 15:06 GMT11
Is there a way to determine the native ISO of the sensor in my Canon
20D? From what I've heard, it isn't necessarily the lowest ISO
setting. Someone said the sensor in the 10D was best at 200 and that
100 was actually a slight interpolation.
thank you for tonguing my browneye, Rusty14 Feb 2005 13:50 GMT1
Tonight let us have dinner of garlic baked chicken with red clam sauce
and sterno, then we shall retire to the gym and pump each other.

lens review decent sites14 Feb 2005 12:31 GMT1
Any links to decent lens review sites please, e.g. approaching lenses like
dpreview approach body reviews ...sites that show test comparison shots ,
not too blinding with science, definitely not having any means of selling
you anything on the site.
Fix for magneta cast with i990014 Feb 2005 12:14 GMT14
Well after all the comments here that =I= must be doing something wrong,
that I was double profiling and didn't know it ect, I finally found the
solution. After a bunch of emails to Canon, with their equally ineffective
suggestions (like defragging my hard drive?) they sent a ...
Convert MJPG MOV to AVI?14 Feb 2005 11:27 GMT2
My camera takes little 30 second MJPEG clips in MOV format, I'd like to
convert them to more windows/editing friendly AVI.
Any (free) way to do this WITHOUT recompression? I can export in
QuickTime player but only to uncompressed AVI or Cinepak and so on. I
question about theglobaldomain.com14 Feb 2005 06:40 GMT1
I recently got an email from the guys at http://www.theglobaldomain.com
bragging about their website and a photo contest.
Any heard of them before? Would you advice sending ones photos there?

Kensignton CF Cards.  Any good?14 Feb 2005 06:01 GMT6
I am looking for more CF cards.  I have a 20d, and have 2 gb total of CF
cards.  Wasn't overly concerned, until I shot a Chorus in concert on friday
night, when it took less than 1 hour to fill all my cards, so time to bulk
up.
SpyderPro vs. Color Plus?14 Feb 2005 05:59 GMT2
Doing some quick research on the Colorvision website it seems the SpyderPro
is an outdated product and the Color Plus is newer. I just bought the
SpyderPro and before I open the box I'm thinking maybe I should return it
and saved $50 by buying the $99 Color Plus instead. Is the ...
EZprints - 300dpi?14 Feb 2005 05:56 GMT3
I enlarged a bunch of images using Qimage. I don't like to overdo it, so
none of the photos were enlarged too much. I am printing 12x18 and 16x20.
The dpi for my files range from 150-200 for the respective print sizes. I
heard that ezprints prints at 300dpi automatically. Is that ...
signal to noise ratio14 Feb 2005 05:47 GMT3
This group has been inundated with spam and off-topic posts, and
inappropriate followups lately, as everyone has seen. We also know that
it seems quite difficult to chase down who it is.
So here are two suggestions.
Preddy changes its tune14 Feb 2005 05:29 GMT6
Found this from Preddy over in dpreview.com forums:
" How could anyone recommend a Sigma DSLR at this point? I love my SD9s, but
I wouldn't even consider recommending a Simga DSLR to an individual, let
alone entertain them as a company that must depend upon a competent,
Time-lapse photography with digicam14 Feb 2005 04:33 GMT12
I have a Canon Powershot G3, with intervalometer capability. Does any body
know of any software that can
process the images into a single time-lapse photo? I know there is a film
camera offered at National Geographic called
Website for photos?14 Feb 2005 04:03 GMT5
OK, here's what I'd like to do...
I"m going to be shooting some events, and I'd like to put photos on one of the
websites like pbase.  But I need to display a lot of photos - most likely in the
hundreds.  And I need to give out the web address on business cards so people
D70-compatible lenses, SB-20 compatibility?14 Feb 2005 03:02 GMT4
I'm seriously thinking of replacing my Nikon N90 body with a D70.
Anyone have any experience or pointers on D70-compatibility for my lenses
and flash?
