CF card to external hard drive20 Feb 2005 22:28 GMT10
I am a newbie to this group but couldn't find this question asked
earlier.
I have a CF card reader and an external hard drive. Is there any way I
can copy images from a CF to the hard drive without using a computer ?

Is anybody using one of these?  What do you think?  Any comparisons to the
diffuser that comes with the Nikon SB800?
Color temparture and calibration w/ ColorVision SpyderPRO20 Feb 2005 19:45 GMT4
I've noticed that there are quite a few people in this forum who use
(and seem to be happy with) the ColorVision Spyder. I've got the pro
version, and I've got quite a few problems with it. Perhaps I don't
fully understand color calibration and color temperature.
HELP: How to disassemble Canon A70?20 Feb 2005 19:27 GMT4
Canon A70 PowerShot
There are a bunch of teeny screws in this thing, but I still don't think
I've taken all of them out, enough so that I can pry the case apart to see
the guts.  The little pins in the CF card slot got mashed, and I'm thinking

Canon G6/Olympus 808020 Feb 2005 18:45 GMT5
I am considering buying this Canon G6 or a Olympus 8080.
I am looking for a couple of RAW images from these cameras, preferably

branches against a blue sky( could show up fringing).

AOL discontinuing Newsgroup access !20 Feb 2005 16:49 GMT14
AOL has informed users that in early 2005 that service will stop access to
Newsgroups.  Bummer.  Sure, I can get to Newsgroups using the new Google
"Groups" feature or thru IE.....but the AOL format for Usenet is much easier to
read and manage.  Send AOL a nasty email if this ...
Sony F828 Flash characteristics20 Feb 2005 16:48 GMT8
When taking flash pictures in the rain occasionally fainter "tails" show on
rain drops illuminated by the flash. The puzzling thing is the tails are
below the "head" of the raindrop, not above it as would be expected.  They
appear comet-like but if these were comets one would ...

canon pixma ip4000 cartridge query20 Feb 2005 09:22 GMT1
I have a new Canon printer as mentioned above and we like the prints.
Two questions:
1) About how many 4X6 photos can one get before needing a new cartridge(s)?
So far, I have printed about 90 such pictures and from what I can tell, the
Kodak 6940 and dissapointment continues...20 Feb 2005 07:38 GMT14

Her dissapointment in this camera just continues.
She's not the only one.
She has a BA in Photography so shes not a novice.
2X or 1.4X converters on DSLRs, and the 'crop factor'20 Feb 2005 05:46 GMT8
Another poster has asked about a 2X Quantaray converter on a zoom
lens. Many people in the 35mm film arena suggest never using more than a
1.4X converter because any imperfections in the lens (and the converter)
are magnified, along with losses in contrast, saturation, and so on.
