What resolution for poster size prints ?16 Oct 2003 19:21 GMT9
What dpi are customary in the publishing world for a 3 x 8 feet poster
print ? Obviously not the 300 dpi used for books - perhaps 100 dpi ?

Kodak 649016 Oct 2003 18:58 GMT12
Has anyone used the new Kodak 6490 yet?  It's a 4 mp camera with a 10x
Schneider-Kreuzenach Variogon zoom lens.  I see Dell is selling it for
$449 this weekend, and I'm really tempted.  It comes with its own battery
charger docking station.

Photomate & "Ultra" CF Cards16 Oct 2003 18:32 GMT5
I have a DaneElec Photomate Combo card reader, and have recently purchased a
256Mb Sandisk "Ultra" CompactFlash card. Photos are now on the card, but the
Photomate doesn't seem to want to accept the Ultra CF card.
Card was formatted in the camera (Canon Powershot A70).
Looking for Photo Album printing software16 Oct 2003 17:25 GMT6
The Photo Record software that came with my Canon Pro90 lets me create
printable photo albums with many options for photo placement, borders,
backgrounds, etc.  However, the program is both slow and unreliable (it
often locks up when given large image files to handle.)  I've looked ...

Consequences of editing 10D jpeg in Adobe RGB color space?16 Oct 2003 17:01 GMT2
With respect to inkjet printing, and editing the jpeg files in
Photoshop, what are the consequences of using the Adobe RGB setting in
the 10D instead of using the default sRGB? (I rarely use RAW.) I
understand the different color spaces and i want maximum color space

Photo prints with refilled Cartridges?  (HP 57 & 58)16 Oct 2003 15:31 GMT4
Has anyone had success printing photos with refilled HP 57 & 58
carts?  I use both photosmart 130 and 7550 printers and ink cost is
starting to be a concern.  I'm wondering if photo quality will suffer
with refills, as well as ink level reset procedures (taping)  as well
Film scanner for  2 1/4 inch by 2 1/4 inch16 Oct 2003 14:33 GMT6
I am new to film scanning and I am seeking advice on the purchase of a
film scanner.
I have hundreds of APS, 35mm, and 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inch negatives that I
would like to scan.
Storage, Blur and other issues16 Oct 2003 14:19 GMT9
Haven't yet got a digital camera but I'm pretty close to making the big leap
from film. But before I do I'd like to get a few questions answered.
I downloaded a few 5MP images taken on a Nikon Coolpix 5400 (thats where my
research is pointing right now) and each image is just over ...
Canon S50 - Raw and more16 Oct 2003 14:17 GMT4
Ok, just got my S50 the other day.
I'm curious about something and almost at a loss. When downloading my images
from the camera, there are different ways I can go about it.
Zoombrowser, Photoshop, Corel PhotoPaint and Windows.
Minolta Z1 or Olympus C740?16 Oct 2003 14:12 GMT3
I have narrowed my choice of digicams to the Minolta Z1 and the Olympus
C740. From the specs the Minolta seems to have the upper hand but which
camera takes the better pictures?
Thanks

Nikon Coolpix defective pixel16 Oct 2003 11:59 GMT4
My wife has a Coolpix 775 which has developed a 'defective' pixel - a
single pixel is stuck on green.
I understand that this problem can be fixed by 'remapping' the pixels
on the sensor using software. I have called a couple of repair places
