Firewire card reader28 Jul 2003 22:14 GMT5
Can anyone recommend a good firewire compact flash card reader? I'm using
USB now and its so slow its silly. I have a firewire port and use it often
for my video transfer so I was hoping there was a good firewire card reader
out there that maybe someone has some experience with.
Digital and Motorsports...28 Jul 2003 21:13 GMT4
It's probably about time for me to make the jump to digital....
I do a lot of motorsports photography and I've read a lot about shutter lag
on digital cameras..... what kind of learning curve should I expect? Can
the shutter lag really make it difficult for this type of shooting?
correcting weak histogram information?28 Jul 2003 20:42 GMT2
is there a chance to correct weak histogram information? (lots of gaps
in the curve!) - can this for example be done by superposing multiple
copies of the same layer and combinging them ?

Nikon Coolpix 5400 - Country of manufacture?28 Jul 2003 20:03 GMT2
Any one has any idea what's the country of manufacture for the Coolpix 5400?
I have seen the camera, it says "Nikon Corp, Japan". A sure sign that it is
not made in Japan. Afterall, I did see the Coolpix 5000 that has "Made in
Japan" proudly engraved on the body.
10D White Balance and color temperature28 Jul 2003 19:11 GMT3
I have had my 10D for about 4 months now and I am getting better at taking
advantage of it's features.  However I have a few questions that the manual
does not address:
In creative mode one can change the while balance settings by pressing the

Had my new Sony DSC P92 for almost a week now, I am pleased with its
performance, ideally it takes AA size batteries obtainable anywhere.
This model is 5 megapixels, I have used mainly 3.1 and seem to be quite
happy with the resolution, I suppose 5 is better for blowing up large
film scanners28 Jul 2003 18:37 GMT4
I'm trying to decide on a film scanner.  I will be scanning mostly 35mm
B&W film and occasionally 35mm color negs.  I have both a USB 1.0 and
firewire connections to my WXP PC.
So far I've been looking at the Canon FS4000US and the Nikon Super
Help please.  Want to edit movie files.28 Jul 2003 18:03 GMT6
I have a Canon S45 that takes both stills and movies.  While
the video clips are in the camera I can do a little editing
on them; that is, I can cut stuff from either the beginning
or the end and either overwrite the original file or write

Advise on Photo software and Technique28 Jul 2003 16:20 GMT2
I recently bought my Digital Camera (Canon A60), I have Photo Impression 4
which came with the camera and I also have Irfanview which seems to be
better?
Are these packages OK or would you recommend another package for editing
New to Digital :28 Jul 2003 15:32 GMT2
I am new to the world of Digital, I am however not a stranger to the
world of film, as I have a small 35mm point and shoot (Works great) as
well as a Nikon APS Pronia, (I know, they stopped making them) it still
is fun to  play around with My question is what would be a good choice
Mounting photos28 Jul 2003 15:23 GMT4
When I last enjoyed my photo hobby, it was 25 yrs ago and we mounted our b&w
photos with a heat-applied dry mount tissue.
I suspect that heat mounting is death to today's inkjet-printed color
photos.  What are we using to mount photos to poster boards these days?
Anyone using a SanDisk Ultra 1GB in a Coolpix 990?28 Jul 2003 15:14 GMT1
SanDisk state the following:
"Nikon claims support up to 160 MB, SanDisk has successfully tested up
to 512 MB"
I thought the formatting limitations kicked in at 2GB. Perhaps this is
Olympus "2 in 1 picture"?28 Jul 2003 15:10 GMT2
Someone was telling me about some feature on Olympus cameras with "2 in 1"
picture mode. Can anyone explain to me what this does?
Also, why is it possible that certain functions on Olympus cameras (like the
"panorama" mode which I'm guessing is something like Canon's Stitch
Dust Devil video filmed with a digital camera!28 Jul 2003 14:47 GMT8
Hey All, I recently created a short video showing some Dust Devils in action
as I chase them in my Jeep.  I filmed it using a Minolta D'Image F300
camera.  Please feel free to come by and check it out:
