If any of you are going to be in the Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah (USA),
area in the next couple of months, I highly recommend the "From
Daguerreotype to Digital: A History of Photography" exhibit at the
Harold B. Lee Library on the Brigham Young University campus in Provo. I

Film vs Digital15 Mar 2010 07:27 GMT119
I am an amateur and I've been shooting with an SLR for over 40 years.   In
that time I have picked up some sense of good photographic techniques.   I
use photography to illustrate techniques and document processes as well as
the usual snapshots of family and friends.

Mr. & Mrs. Spider - macro quality15 Mar 2010 05:32 GMT2
I am amazed by the technical quality of this shot at http://www.oz-greetings.com.au/photo
It was taken on Macro setting/automatic WITHOUT tripod. The camera was
held by ancient hands on a rather windy day. The spiders’ web was
constantly blown about. You can click on photo to ...
Negative help.10 Mar 2010 21:18 GMT6
Found some old 35m negatives but they are stuck together.
I have them soaking in water at moment but doesn't seem to be separating
them. Don't want to pull apart as it might damage them.
Any tips, ideas to separate.

Corrupt photo files27 Feb 2010 16:48 GMT6
Today I shot about 290 photos on Lexar Professional 4gb.
(as advised I reformat it after each image dump)
I plugged the card into the card reader and Zoombrowser card reader came
up and all but 20 images had question marks on them.

Anyone know where i can buy one of these beasts please? its an external
battery pack for the F75 Nikon.

Remote Control of Camera21 Feb 2010 04:15 GMT5
There are a number of articles around to show how to hack into various
cameras to allow remote triggering and if need be, flashing.
I am thinking of buying another camera and wonder if there is a class
of cameras that easily lend themselves to remote control.

Photo storage16 Mar 2010 23:33 GMT17
I have a large number of family photographs - a large carton full of
prints, slides and negatives - that I need to go through, sort out, and
organise into some form of appropriate permanent storage.
Some just need to be safely archived, others will go into albums.
Decent compact for timelapse - recommendation?16 Mar 2010 02:06 GMT8
Can anyone recommend a good compact digital camera with an interval
timer? No other features matter at all, just decent image quality and
the ability to shoot something like 1 frame every 3 seconds for an hour.
Plan is to build a strut mounting for a light aircraft, get it CAA

Focus on Imaging, NEC Birmingham10 Mar 2010 09:44 GMT3
Did anyone go to this year's Focus?  Was it worthwhile?
It's the last day tomorrow (Wednesday) and I have a day free, just
wondered if it was worth going.
The sky with lines08 Mar 2010 17:40 GMT5
I'm trying to print out an image.
The lighter parts of the sky have an irritating series of darker lines
across them; the lines match the path of the print head across the
paper.

How well do these work with Macs? And, are they really anything more
than a gimmick headed for landfill in 18 months' time?

Inkjet ink and photo paper07 Mar 2010 09:49 GMT3
I've had pretty good results from a Canon MP970, with glossy 10x15cm
photo paper from ALDI (sometimes branded "Rex"). Is there likely to be
an improvement over this using Canon branded paper?
Also, I will soon need to replace some ink. Are there any 3rd-party
