CHDK Story in Nuts and Volts Magazine03 Sep 2010 04:57 GMT3
This month's Nuts and Volts magazine has the first part of a multi-part
article on CHDK. This month's section is pretty basic, but next month
they should get into more of the programming.

Not-A-Duck, In the Rain - Quite a Success Story03 Sep 2010 02:41 GMT-
While out feeding some of my wild critters tonight at sunset, in the rain,
I spotted this fellah (gal?) watching the feeding-frenzy show.

Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM02 Sep 2010 23:35 GMT2
I saw the announcement for this lens about a week ago but don't recall
it being discussed in the rec.photo.* newsgroups.  As the header says,
it is a zoom fisheye lens.  It has full frame (24x36) coverage at 15mm
and the usual circular fisheye image within the full frame at 8mm.
Drawing circles, boxes, and arrows in "The Gimp" freeware (on Linux)02 Sep 2010 23:29 GMT23
Does anyone know where the "circle", "square", "ellipse" tool is on Gimp?
Likewise with the "arrow" tool?
Any basic photo editor should have this capability; but I can't seem to
find it on Linux "The Gimp" photo editing freeware, version 2.6.8.

Canon T2i RAW in Photoshop CS302 Sep 2010 13:30 GMT10
My T2i arrived this week and, as I was happily snapping test photos and
loading them into Photoshop, I was surprised to realize that CS3 does not
recognize the T2i's RAW format.  I goggled for some help and, as I
understand it, 5.6 is the last Camera RAW plug-in update for CS3 ...

New reporting requirements for professional photographers01 Sep 2010 00:43 GMT35
One of the provisions slipped into the US health care act was a new
reporting requirement for federal income taxes. Starting next year, any
business paying more than $600 to anyone for goods and services must
fill out a Form 1099 and send it to that person and report it to the

Panasonic FZ30 v FZ2815 Feb 2010 10:11 GMT2
I've got the chance of either a slightly used FZ30 or a new FZ28 (I'm
assuming the FZ28 hasn't been replaced). Other than the resolution and
zoom, is there a huge difference between them?
Is the low light capability of the FZ28 much improved over that of the

Never buy a nikon again the P90 was horrific13 Jul 2010 03:28 GMT1
I knew when and where I bought it but Nikon too insecure to honor
their brands quality is hoping someone destroys a year old reciept so
they will not be burdened with fixing something that hs horrible
quality. I think there is something seriously flawed with this camera

ranging from what is valued by society to that which is yet unrecognized.
