Photomerge panorama problems12 Mar 2010 22:53 GMT9
I've been playing around with the 'photomerge' function in Photoshop
Elements, attempting to take a wide-angle-type view of a room.
Not having done this before, I stuck my camera on a tripod, which I then
levelled as best I could using the built-in spirit leveled) and then
GPS track logging and photo tagging12 Mar 2010 21:59 GMT17
Just curious as to who logs their outdoor activities with a GPS.
I don't mean navigation, just recording the track for later playback in
Google Earth or other apps.
Do you tag your photos with the GPS?
Best thing for Olympus is to go mirror-less in the low-end12 Mar 2010 17:31 GMT17
Their low-end DSLR cameras have, bar none, the WORST optical
viewfinders of ANY current cameras.  They absolutely suck for
illumination level, clarity and size.  Focusing manually, even in
daylight is a chore and impossible in low-light.  The very best thing
[SI] Lines and Intersections comments12 Mar 2010 14:11 GMT30
A nice bunch of photos - when I comment I like to put out the strengths
of the images first followed by whatever negatives and/or suggestions I
might have.  Alas, not all the comments will follow that guide.

The latest gallery of the world famous Shoot-In is now posted and
available for viewing. It includes, God forbid, a submission by
AniBrett (which looks like scanned film..?).
Enjoy:

This is (I think) the same species that German "backpackers" attempted
to smuggle of New Zealand - one now imprisoned for his failed attempt.
This is a male - the females are usually brighter in colour:

D3 & D3x: Mirror Up Mode12 Mar 2010 21:41 GMT4
Noting that I almost always use a tripod, and for
static subjects (excluding sports shots), under
all lighting conditions and shutter speeds, is there
any reason I should not always use mirror up mode?

Curved Focus?12 Mar 2010 18:41 GMT18
What's the technical term for the kind of lens we use all the time, that
projects a plane of focus onto an image plane?
Is there such as thing as a lens type that has, instead of a plane, a sphere
or ellipsoid of focus?
Judge Joe Brown Knows His Photography   LOL12 Mar 2010 15:19 GMT30
Here's a portion of the Judge Joe Brown episode that aired Monday in the US.
The case involved a woman who felt cheated when the wedding photographer she
hired delivered poor results after using a Canon Rebel XTi, 18-55mm kit
lens, and a 70-300mm. What's interesting is how Judge ...

Panasonic FZ30 v FZ2815 Feb 2010 10:11 GMT2
I've got the chance of either a slightly used FZ30 or a new FZ28 (I'm
assuming the FZ28 hasn't been replaced). Other than the resolution and
zoom, is there a huge difference between them?
Is the low light capability of the FZ28 much improved over that of the

when dogs are photographed with on camera flash. Or any easy way to do it
