I am trying to find out some information on EuroCyber digital cameras. All I
can find is a website:
http://www.digitaleuro.net/
The reason I want to find out about these cameras is that my mother (who is
78 years old) bought one of these cameras while on holiday in Lanzarote and
she didn't realise how much she was being charged for it until she got her
credit card statement. The shop has agreed to change the camera for another
one but I am sure that they are charging far too much for the cameras they
are selling.
The model concerned is a EuroCyber DDV3130 CCD 8.0 Megamax camera with case.
I would like to find out what is a fair price for this camera. My mother
doesn't have a clue about cameras or computers and didn't know that she
would need a computer to really enjoy her photos properly.
Does anyone know anything about EuroCyber cameras? TIA.

Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and
beat you with experience

Hi
I don't think you will get much information. These very cheaply made types
of cameras are intended for people who know nothing about real cameras.
They are often sold under a variety of names and claim a much higher Output
than their sensors actually justify.
The best I can suggest is a close examination of it and any literature to
find out the actual resolution of the sensor which may well be about 3Mp.
You could then look for similar resolution Cameras from some of the Eastern
European makers, also with a variety of names, in the cheaper types of
catalogue shops, or on-line, and compare the price. I would expect it to be
around £50.
The Canary Isles is not the place to buy Photo Gear, one of the Asian
shopkeepers there thought my Nikon 35mm SLR was made in Russia, simply
because it was big and black. He sold Nikon Digitals, ( it said so on the
boxes), but he could not recognise a real Nikon.
If a memory Card has been used, then Prints can be produced at almost all of
the Photo Kiosks straight from the Card.

Does her camera use a memory card?
If so, then there's no reason why she can't enjoy her photos in the same way
she would with a film camera.
Just about every film processor does prints from digital media nowadays, and
you'll find the little standalone kiosks which allow you to insert your
memory card, and get prints from the slot below in hundreds of unexpected
places too nowadays.

Thanks I am familiar with that which is why I used the words I used. This
shop charged my mother close to £1000 for this camera and I don't believe it
is worth the money.

From what I've seen of them online, I don't think they're worth anywhere
near that.

pestering her to go somewhere else. :-(

My advice is to dispute the credit card charge and contact Consumer Offices in
Lanzarote, even If you do not speak Spanish there is a good chance of they
speaking English.
Their phone and addresses are:
Oficina Insular de Información al Consumidor (Av. Fred Olsen s/n Arrecife)

Their email address is in a link called "Correo" in lower right corner, I don't
copy it here to avoid it being caught by automated spam harvesting
