I've a new Canon EF 50mm 1.8 lens and realised that I have a 52mm
skylight filter I bought for my first SLR over 40 years ago - -anyone
remember PetriFlex?  There are no visible faults with the filter, but
is it worth putting it on my new lens?

It was the modern coatings that raised the question in my mind.  Try
it and see is plan A.
