Whatever software I use to process my photos seems to always put some kind
of information identifying itself into the file.
Is there a way to remove this completely ?

Use some other program.  If you're using JPEG files, jpegtran can
strip any metadata without touching the image data.

I think Photoshop has a way of getting rid of file data. Trouble is, I don't
know how it's done. I suggest you go to their newsgroup with this question.

Good luck.

Sorry Dave, not that I want to intrude, but I fail to see why this would be
needed... Could you please enlighten me? Thanks,
Marcel

I have no idea why it's important to someone, and hope the original poster
read (I hate to see someone asks then never come back with the update).
Anyway, I don't use any of them but these are what I read.

- Personal information (from camera) like name of owner/company etc. is
usually the option of the software comes with the camera.  IOW, the user
will have to install the software, connect the camera to computer, enter and
transfer the information to the camera.

- Camera setting (XRIF) there are several freeware util to Read/Remove and
modify the XRIF information.  I never use any of them to remember the names.
And whoever want to know more about it/them can GOOGLE for more info.

Thanks Joel.
Personally I find them useful. I saw a photo taken back in 2001 and I knew
the exact date I took it, the camera I took it with and even ISO, etc.

How do you know that the program is adding anything?

Viewing the XRIP, and some other info may need some special or specific
util.  Unless you may ask where to find or the name of the program, I don't
know but you may be able to GOOGLE it.

Maybe Exifer is along the lines of what I want.
For those who have asked why I need this: Not need, want.
