Can anyone point me to a book or other source of information that can give
me advice about photographing clear glass objects such as wine glasses?

My wife wants me to take some photographs of glasses she'd like to offer for
sale on eBay.

No problem.

I like how they did it in progression, not just showing the recommended
method.  Seeing a few common ways that don't work so well gives one a
better appreciation for the final method.

Not sure if it would work for you, but a good setting is plain light grey
felt available at any fabric store.
