Is it possible to use Picture Project, or some other sofware, to make
a slide show and then burn it to a disk is such a way that it can be
shown by playing it in a DVD play connected to a TV?
I want to show my dad my photos and he does not have a computer.

Yes, there are many programs that do this. I don't, so I can't offer any
suggestions, but check the photo album programs.

ProShow Gold (www.photodex.com) allows for the burning of a slide show
direct to a DVD.

I also use ProShow Gold and found it to be the best of the 10 or so
other programs I have.

I Use ProShow Producer or Proshow Gold , but there are many other
programs that do this like Sony Vegas or Memories on TV.
I have tryed a few and find Proshow products ( www.photodex.com ) to be
easier and more options.
Not only can you make DVD but can send your finnished slide show to
your own website, thru email ( I dont recomend this one as files are
large), copy to CD making a VCD, they also host your shows for free on
there website, you can also make a .exe file, CVD, AVI, SVCD, XSVCD, An
auto run CD and even a screen saver.I think thats all
This is one I made and is a far cry from being as good as the ones I
have seen, but you can get an idea what its about. A small download may
be required to view it and best to view full screen by right clicking
and choose fullscreen

Depending on the DVD player, MOST of them nowadays play jpg
slideshows...just put your images on a cd and put it in the DVD player.
I have an extremely cheap Apex $39 DVD player, and it does a great job
with them.

I have tried a number of slideshow programs.Proshow Gold is excellent
and Proshow Producer is even better. The ability to zoom into your
photo`s and pan around creates an impression that are watching a video
or movie instead just a progresson of still pictures. Recommended.
