I have either lost or misplaced the cable that connects
my Canon Coolpix 800 to my PC. It appears that it must
have been a sub-sub-miniature phone plug on one end but
I do not remember what it had on the other end. It almost
had to be USB, but I cannot find that cable.
Would somebody please tell me if it was USB.
(It might have been serial)
Tnx,
Charles

Doesn't Coolpx = NIKON ?
Connection to the PC is USB.
Mini phone plug from camera is for playback output.

CORRECTION: Coolpix 800 is Nikon.
ALSO: the SUB-MINI plug hole is labeled "Video Out"
The hole labeled I/O is even smaller.
There is an even larger hole labeled "DC IN 6.5V".
Tnx to JayD,
Charles

I have found the original paperwork that comes with a NIKON
Coolpix 800. It indicates that we are talking serial port.
Now it comes back to me. My ThinkPad R40 has no serial port.
The lack of serial port is the reason I bought the card
reader. ... I can still use the card reader, but I fear that
there is a finite number of times I can plug a card into the
camera. Eventually those tiny pins will self destruct.
The NIKON p/n for the pc-to-camera cable is SC-EW2. There is
also a NIKON part to convert the pc-serial to Apple.

don't worry about it...
the card reader should last for many, many years

you do NOT want to transfer data via serial port...
it will take hours to do so

Why do't you just go to a Nikon dealer and buy a new cable?  Look it up
on their web site.  Check Adorama or B & H. THey probably don't cost
that much.
