Hi all,
Our digital camera (HP-never will I buy another HP) recently broke and
we are in the market for a new one. We are not hardcore photographers,
but we do take quite a good amount of pictures and need a camera
(looking for digital) for the usual/casual picture taking moments
(vacations, graduations etc).
Can anyone provide any good suggestions on any particular digital
brand/model numbers, preferably between $200.00-$300.00?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

I use a Casio QV-R51 (they're about $200 and under) with 5mp's and it takes
pictures fairly well and received decent reviews from Steve's Digicam site
(he rates digital cameras). I'm sure other people will have a few camera of
choice to recommend. Here's a link of some pictures taken with the QV-R51:

The brands that seem to have quality models and no "dogs are (in no
particular order): Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus.

I've been using Olympus cameras for years. My latest is a digital
camera, middle of the road model, with the titanium case because I take
it backpacking and wanted it to be durable. When I shopped for a camera
this last time, I looked at all the brands. I really wasn't decided on
another Olympus, but when I compared pricing, features, and design, I
ended up with the Olympus once again. I would highly recommend them.

I love my DX7590 Kodak. I am aproaching 7000 shots in 18 months. 10X
optical zoom. I use a monopod for support for high magnification shots.
Only dislike is the 5 sec. between shots. I find that it prints dark in
full day light, but this is better than washing out the highlights and
easily correct in ACD editing.

Fuji can be another good choice. That F11 has been praised for its
low-light ability which I guess will be suitable to day-to-day photography
since many of them will be taken indoor.

The F11 will be followed by the F30 in May, with some improvements. It
might be wise to wait for that, if you can afford to.
