I'm sorry, Mr LR (site-owner I see?), but I find most of these images
over-contrasty and somewhat uninspired. Maybe it's just my taste, but
I would be looking for much better lighting (night exposures, or
dawn/dusk with more use of shadows - a much lower-key, ie dark and
moody, feel) and composition (too much extraneous detail - change your
shooting angles and crop, crop, crop..) before approaching 'magical'
status.

I am afraid that the size of your previews are not big enough to give an
idea of quality or allow the viewer to see the subject matter in very much
detail. I would, at least, make them 640 pixels big (at the VERY least).
Secondly, they just look like general "snaps" taken in a graveyard then
converted to B+W in PS. Sorry, but that is my perception. I think the word
"Magical" in your subject header made me expect a lot more.

I'm thinkin' you may want to establish a gallery elsewhere, say in a
place where you can actually view the photography as something other
than a large thumbnail and it doesn't have a price tag on it? These
Usenet folk are kinda funny about what they perceive as spam. Now on
the other hand, I'm willing to give you a pass on spamming, 'cause I
can't think of a sorrier group to spam if you actually wanted to sell a
picture. If anybody here did see one of your ideas they liked, they'd
most likely steal the idea and improve upon it. ;o)

Boy, y'all sound like a bunch of crab-a.s whiners.
Please excuse my intrusion on your illustrious newsgroup ... won't
happen again.

Don't be so touchy, LR. All of the comments in this thread are moderate
and mostly intended to be helpful. The images *are* small, and the
largest available view is still too small to appreciate the images, not
to mention they are delivered via a 'popup' screen, which a lot of
people have turned off in their browsers and/or firewalls because of the
damned intrusive everlasting commercial popups that plague the net these
days.
Your subject line invites viewers to see your work, only to be met with
prices and buying options. This isn't very good netiquette in a photo
newsgroup. As a suggestion, you could show your images at a size that
can be appreciated, say 800x533 pixels, too small to be ripped off, but
providing better viewing, then provide a link to your commercial site
for those who may be interested.
Stick around, and possibly join in some discussions. You might change
your mind about the inhabitants of the NG.
One more point; as most of not all posters here are themselves photogs,
they are interested in what their peers are doing, so they are
interested in looking at other's images. As photogs, they are probably
not interested in buying images, hence some of the reactions you got.

Whatsa crab-a.s? As many of those things as I've eaten over the years,
I don't think I know where their a.ses are or what they look like.
This could be an underhanded compliment or an insult, but until I find
out what a crab-a.s is, I guess I won't know. I do whine a little now
and then.
Ya see, I didn't really mean any harm. I was just trying to give you
some pointers on how to attract more viewers. You will have to develop
a little thicker skin if you plan to post to any photography group.
Most folks are pretty kind in their critiques, as I think these guys
were.. at least as compared to some of the crap you could have run
into. I kind of like your description of us as an illustrious
newsgroup though. Heh, heh!
