I recently built a 64-bit computer, running WinXP Pro 64. I bought a
ColorVision Spyder2 calibrator for the LCD monitor.
Problem is, there are no 64-bit drivers for the Spyder2. This baffles
me. WinXP 64 isn't exactly brand spanking new, and surely a good number
of people who do heavy duty image processing have moved to 64-bit for
the better memory capacity and speed. It never even occurred to me that
there might not be a 64-bit driver for this thing.
I have tried running it in a VMWare virtual 32-bit machine, but no joy.
The application installs. The driver appears to install. The device
shows up in the hardware manager. But when I try to run the program it
crashes, ever time.
Does anyone know if ColorVision is working on a 64-bit driver? I wrote
to them a short time ago, but I don't expect a reply until Monday at
the very earliest.
Has anyone had any success getting the Spyder2 to work in a virtual
machine?

Here is the reply I received from them today. April seems like a long
way out, and I have no guarantee that the version I purchased will not
be considered obsolete. Guess I'll have to look into returning the
device.

We are in the process of developing drivers for 64bit; we anticipate
release April 06. Please note discontinued versions of software may not
be supported.
